My plan was to just drive down tomorrow and meet a buddy of mine who is racing then head back home, not staying for the race. I figure he's coming up from Alabama it's the least I can do so we can actually meet. Anyway, son1 is thinking he'd like to go down and watch the race, at least the bikes.

From what my family has told me. The best way to spectate the bike course is to stay at transition area until the person you are watching heads out. Then, you can take one of the shuttles to LaGrange to watch for them to come through. The bike course goes through LaGrange twice. After they come through the second time, just catch the shuttle back to Louisville and wait for them to come into transition. You will then have plenty of time to run over to the run exit and see them come out. My wife knows very little about logistics and watching these events (of the 30 or so races I've done, she's attended around 6 of them) and she was able to catch me on the course all 5 times that I mention here. You have experience watching and competing, so it should be cake for you. If you go to the website, there is a spectator guide that tells you the best places to watch and about the shuttle.
