Hi my KR peeps,

Just wanted to check in with you before I head off for my race. I've only got one big bag packed and no carry-on ... what have I forgotten? Argh ...

Three things:

1) Try not to break your shoulder seven months out from Ironman. The painful recovery and intensive physio isn't worth it. 4 1/2 months of physio for me, and I'm still doing stretches and exercises. Besides, I'm told it takes a full year for the shoulder to heal ... and yes, it still hurts, especially when I swim. I'm actually way ahead of the norm.

2) Make sure to ship your bike earlier than I did ... it will lessen the stress. Please send positive vibes that my bike will arrive at the hotel by end of this afternoon.

3) Sorry I have not been visited KR often during the past months. I've had a compressed 11-week IM training schedule (includes taper weeks) and have been living in a work, train and take care of kids bubble. Ridiculously short training schedule but not much of a choice considering 1).

Okay, I'm nervous and undertrained as all heck and you wonder why I didn't just defer until next year if I'm still injured:

1) Race fee was already paid. Hotel and plane ticket were already booked. We struggling actors find Ironman really expensive (heck, everyone finds it expensive!)

2) I'm racing in memory of my mom who passed away from cancer last year. My goal is to raise $2000 ...Together we can conquer cancer! http://operationtriumph.com/en/race-for-hope.php

3) My Ironwoman friend, Lyn, who passed away in May after being hit by a truck along with 5 other triathlete friends, was supposed to race with me and was actually the one who convinced me to sign up. She'd call me a wuss for bailing and I'd never hear the end of it. Please say a prayer for her that she is now at peace.

Well, I'm hoping that my mom and my friend Lyn will somehow give me wings so I can fly through the course without too much pain.

Thanks for all your continued support, my Team LIT family ... it's nice to know you're still there for me even though I've been absent.
