Oh...don't forget about Flo Rider...or Rida? Apple Bottom song...

I've got my "lesson plan" skeleton'd out...

I'll let you know how it goes-report will come LATE tonite or early tomorrow.

Don't worry Sheldon...I'm not going "all-out" and I'll be off my bike a bunch.

You didn't ask for any pointers but I can't help myself. Sorry. One thing that I notice with a lot of new instructors is that they tend to talk too much. Give them a few tips/instructions about form and then let them relax and enjoy the music. It's hard watching them bounce around without feeling like you constantly need to correct them, but first and foremost they need to love your class so that they'll come back. They are lucky to have someone with real, honest to goodness cycling experience for their teacher. Most spin instructors haven't seen a road in 20 years. Have fun.

if you burn out teaching a spin class, you won't be winning Lake Placid. Just sayin.

Have fun and good luck. You know the routine, but if you get off, just pretend like your right, nobody will know, they'll be hurting to much. If you get in a loop, get them standing up in big gears until you can get your head right.

remember that the experience of spin class is a journey....

You want to take them slowly and safely through hills and sprints and get them to that magical point where it almost sucks.... then, pull back and have a "party song". Lighten the mood make jokes, etc. Then, pull back into yourself and start the work again, driving them deeper and deeper into their personal ability. You need at least one song where the intensity is high and you (the instructor) barely speak except to make a few choice commands and encouraging words. This song is magical because there is nothing but huffing and puffing and the beat of the music. THIS is the song that the members will remember and take with them that night and feel proud of....this song HAS to be there!
This is what I teach the instructors when I coach them on teaching group fitness. It's called FITNESS MAGIC and it happens when every person in the room has centered themselves and focused on the work and each one is digging deeper than they intended to when they walked in the room!

You will do great T!

Bring extra water. I go through much more water teaching than I do taking a class.

I think teaching indoor cycling is the most fun-- I absolutely love it. My favorite is when they are chatty during the warmup, but then 10 minutes in all you can hear is the music and the heavy breathing!

Have fun!!!
