I've been working this job that I absolutely hate for the past 9 months and would have never taken it 'cept that it was thrown in my lap (I was working as a temp but they really liked me.)

I told them I need flexibility since I am a professional actress. They said alright, we understand. Understand, my a$$! My two micro-managers of course couldn't handle it and hell ensued until they decide to let me go mid-January (yes!) They started treating me like crap as if I was totally incompetent.

Long story short, we agreed that I would work until the end of February to help out until they found a replacement (this came from my goodwill cause I didn't want to leave their teams in the lurch) ... but yesterday, when I couldn't get out of my car from my dread of going into work one more day, on the verge of tears, I made a decision.

I went to HR, talked to the director, got out of my agreement, went up to get my personal effects, and said goodbye to my colleagues. Good-bye job from HELL!

This morning, I got up and ran. Soon I'm gonna go swimming.

It feels so amazing to NOT have the life being sucked out of me anymore ... I almost lost all my integrity staying at that job just to earn some bucks. Felt like I was selling my soul ...
Suddenly life has found it's rainbow again.

Anyone else gone through something similar?

Sally

p.s. In Canada, if we quit, we are not entitled to employment insurance benefits into which we contribute with every paycheque = no money. Getting fired, so long as it's not for misconduct = money to tide me over until I can get another job ... whew!

I am so happy for you. Yes I have had a job that I hated, dreaded. Well a job that I loved in a company I hated. I too threw a party my last shift.

happy fired dance to you

To get fired and still paid. sweet. Maybe Canada needs to adopt us instead of the English repo

Hey Melistic,

This is a second posting of my new thread (don't know why) ... could you please copy your fantastic response (which made me feel great) to the other thread so that I can delete this one?

Thanks,
Sally
