Has anyone read this article yet: http://www.azcentral.com/community/tempe/articles/2010/07/20/20100720tempelake0720-ON.html

I know that it might be a bit too early to talk about an IM Duathlon, but dang, it appears that Tempe Town Lake in only about 1/4 full right now after part of its inflatable damn blew out the other night. I have an email into the IM folks to see if they have a contingency plan. CRAZY!!!

I was in grad school there BEFORE there was a Tempe Town Lake.

For me, it was wierd to see pictures of that area filled with water.

For folks now, it's odd to see it dry.

Interestingly enough, the actual water came from the Colorado River....it's not actually Salt River water, due to water conservency agreements that were made "way back when".

But, not having TTL for races is indeed a bummer. It's not like the wading pool in your backyard that you can just fill with hoses, afterall. It takes time to refill.

That's amazing... after being in the lake a few times and looking at the photos its shocking. Well at least you got some time for them to do something. I'm sure they have a contigency plan which includes a duathlon. They were able to whip one up at CdA a few years ago when the water was too rough and gave athletes an option for a du. Hopefully it won't come to that, its a great swim at Tempe.
