...how would your pets react?

My little dog appears to love me. But if a new person walks up, he runs to them and proceeds to worship the stranger. If he glances back at me, it's like he's seeing through me.

If/when I drop dead he'll just latch onto the next person who happens by.

So, how do your pets regard you?

You have a poodle. Poodles will love anyone who love them. They are, and here I use a technical term, sluts.

I honestly believe my cat would be much more upset than the dog. When I go on vacation I have a neighbor who pet sits for me. The dog doesn't show any reaction and is just happy to see a person. Doesn't matter if it's me or someone else as long as they play with her. But she says the cat gets depressed, meows constantly and keeps looking for me, especially when she comes over close to bedtime. The cat wants very little to do with other people.

When I get home, whether from a 3 day or 7 day trip the cat stays right next to me for several hours whereas the dog is happy to see me but not particularly upset one way or the other.

That seems like the opposite of what people always say about cats not giving a darn about anything. That's a very sweet story.

Well, my parents had care and custody of my cat for quite sometime while I was in school, and working far, far away. She probably thinks that they were her REAL owners, and I was just the visitor.

When my dad passed away, she looked for him, and ran to the door whenever she heard a key in the lock. She is very standoffish, and doesn't exactly great you at the door. She really missed him, she'd wander the house and sometimes would just sit and look at me or my mom, with this quizical look, telling us that someone was missing.

I have had care and custody of her for the past three years, I would hope that she would wander around looking for me now. But I don't think she'd react to the key in the door. That was special for my dad, because he would go for early morning walks, so the key in the door signalled that the day was about to begin.

My Golden Retriever loved me so much, it breaks my heart. That dog was always happy to see me and was always content with whatever affection I showed her. Man, I miss that dog so much it still moves me to tears.

Our new dog, Annie (Golden Doodle) likes me and is glad to see me, but she craves attention from my wife. If the wife sits down, Annie goes and gets in her lap.

What's it like training a Germal Shepherd?

I have a pre-owned poodle. So, not only was he sorta trained, but he's a easily-trainable breed.

I wonder how I'd handle a bigger breed puppy.

He's very bright for a dog. Not quite 3 months old, has mastered the sit & shake commands and is coming along pretty well on house breaking. He still thinks he should be the alpha of the pack though and needs constant reminders that he isn't. He did his first hike yesterday and walked well on the leash. We met several other dogs during the hike and he was well behaved. He is fearless and probably thinks he could kick a bull's ass....
