I have not received much feedback from the first round, so I gather that you all enjoyed the game. Here are my initial thoughts for the next round.

Tentative dates: April 27 (Fri) - May 20 (Sun) [24 days]

Registration begins around April 20th.

Similar random selection remains. Goal is 10-15 player per team. Team size depends on number of registered participants.

Current VRAA Champions must play and win the next round to retain their title. At this time, I am not apt to keep the winning team together. Team size depends on number of participants and it is entirely possible that all teams will not have 15 players again. It would not be fair to individuals who get left off their team.

I'm thinking of a couple minor scoring modifications:

- Increasing road cycling from 1pt per mile, to 1.5 or 2 pts per mile.

- Increasing swimming from 1pt per 100yds, to 1.5 or 2pts per 100yds.

Overall, I like the scoring system. The reason for changing the cycling points is that there was no incentive to get outside. One could earn just as many, or more points on a stationary bike. Regarding swimming, there were not too many swim points earned in the last round. I'd like to encourage more swimming.

Please post here any ideas/recommendations that you would like to see added to the game.
I ride my bike at least a couple of miles most everyday but just like my running, I'm slow... as in my picture is in the dictionary next to "slow"...

HEY!! for the speed description part, NOT the mental description part!!...

anyway, like I said in the other post, effort IMHO is equal per mile regardless of speed and adjustments aren't needed for time discrepancies.

I thought the indoor/outdoor cycling difference wasn't equal and thats why I said something. You could pedal indoors at 10 MPH and get 20 points where outside you got 10.

I like everything you are doing.

I thought the game ended really fast and am missing it already. The incentive of earning points for workouts had me working out longer a lot of days, especially since I am not as motivated to do my current non-running activities.

I'm all for boosting the swimming points!

It would be fun to put in some non-mileage or non-time-related bonus point categories, too: such as most unique workout, best Team Smiley/Name/Slogan/Cheer, longest streak of days w/o missing a workout, etc. (I'm sure others can think of better ones.) These could be awarded once a week or at the end of the session. If the categories get very subjective, you'd need judges or Polls for voting, though, which can be more work for coordinating.

Theme-based idea is good. Here is one I'm planning on:

Tour de France VRAA where cycling points are doubled. Or tripled. Coming in July.

Regarding the game ending so quickly last round, what does everyone think about the duration of the game? Would you rather see a set timeframe (in our case, 24 days) or a set point total (say, 5,000 or 10,000 pts) as the factor to determine the game duration?

I think it could have gone another week w/o feeling boring or old.

Leave them wanting more - It was too quick for me - But that means it was fine.

To me running 8 miles in an hour is equivelent to biking 20 miles in an hour - I thought the General Aerobic was fair and the non-Aerobic was fair - I am not a swimmer - No idea, but it is a running website?

I agree the indoor/outdoor cycling didn't seem right. It's way, way harder to ride outdoors than indoors, unless there is no wind whatsoever, then it's only slightly harder.

I loved the VRAA! I would like to see it reach my area, though. Oh, and this time of year I definitely break out the rollerblades, so I'd love to see that added with a point value.

If you do continue the treck, the first team to Boca gets unlimited mojitos!

I want to join in this time! How about a race equal to the distance of the entire Equator? If that's too far, how about equal to the distance of the Tropic of Capricorn or Cancer?

From the top of Mt. Everest to a point at the Tigris/Euphrates?

From the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the Aswan Dam?

From the tip of the Rock of Gibraltar to the Danube in Budapest?

Okay, I'll stop.

I really like this and has missed the last one. One way to stretch things out a little longer (if that's what people want) would be to reduce the number of people per team...

I mentioned it somewhere else Roots but I'll say it again, thanks for doing this!
