Good Morning, good afternoon and good night

Temp is well below freezing here and there are concerns that this weekends marathon may be cancelled. Not wishing to worry about that I was out at 0500 this morning for a relaxed 10 miles. (I even wore tights this time)

I commute to work and all I will say is I wore full on bike gear including wind stopper protected yet I had a serious "Frozen Veg" situation when I arrived at work :¬0

About to head home shortly and I guess expect more of the same before heading out for an intervals sessions with the lads.

Have a lovely day

72 degrees and a shirtless 6 mile run this morning in S. TX. Cold front coming and suppose to be right at freezing Wed morning. This is typical S. TX fall weather. But it's great savings on utilities bills this time of year.

Today might be our only dry day this week. It's cold, but no rain or snow, so I'll get out there at lunchtime and get in a run.

-17° here this morning, and not warming up till later this week. Brrr... Typical November weather in Alaska. Actually we've been a lot warmer than typical here, especially with last week's warm temps and freezing rains. Glad that's over with.

Hope your marathon isn't cancelled, Gobi. If it's not raining/sleet/icing it could be a fun experience. Something to tell the grandkids, right?

I seem to have done something to myself this past week. I think I was a little over-the-top on the hill running in the snow and ice. Seem to have developed a light case of shin splints and hip flexor strain. Lovely timing. I'll be taking it very easy this week...

I'm afraid I can't help, tomwhite, (although no doubt one is in my future) but I'm not sure you want to go in with a "Frozen Veg situation."

Eeee, take it easy, evanf.

I have, tomwhite. You will have to cleanse the bowels beforehand which is rather unpleasant as you seem to know from the ducolax tabs. You won't remember the procedure itself. I guess that's a good thing.

tomwhite: Will you be singing "Moon River" in Choir Practice?

(That's for the Chevy Chase fans out there....)

Started out the morning with about 20 minutes of stretching this AM, followed by planks to the left, planks to the right, stand up, sit down, fight! fight! fight!

Starting out with 45 seconds to each side and 45 seconds in the middle. I'm alternating core work with pushups in the morning, with pushups winning about 5 days to 2 right now.

I ran 6.5 miles in IRC this afternoon - about 42F, no wind to speak of, no clouds to speak of, and no precipitation, to speak of or otherwise. What started out as 4.5 miles of easy running in the middle of the 6.5 turned into 4.75 miles of tempo. Woot.

I had to limp/walk during a 5k road race on thanksgiving....this weekend, I'm looking at a trail race several times that distance...the vegas oddsmakers are predicting I don't make the first time cutoff

nice run at lunchtime today. 5 miles in 46:34. would something like this be called a progression run? my splits were 9.27, 9.29, 9.20, 9.10, 9.05.

chilly out but didn't take long to warm up. I brought along two long sleeve shirts to wear but decided on just one and am glad I did. I would have overheated otherwise.

heading up to Portland this Friday/Saturday. maybe if Lab pops in he can recommend some place for me to run on Saturday morning . . .

Nice run Tammy. I think I'm at the point where I could run with you and keep up. I did almost the same run as you, just a little shorter; "around the block" ended up being 4.7 miles. My splits were 9:18, 8:57, 9:11, 9:21, 8:58. Can you tell where the uphills and downhills were?

Good luck with the colonoscopy, tomwhite. No first hand experience here, sorry. Though I hear it's a good jumpstart for weight loss for some.

TW, I've had two colonoscopies (one they couldn't finish) and have done a prep 3 times. Ducolax isn't the worst, just the noisiest.... chugging the 4 litre jug in 2 hours was just plain nasty. Picosalax was the most gentle, but not the most "thorough". Won't go into the procedure itself... apparently I'm an anomaly when it comes to difficulty with getting the scope around corners. A female thing, I believe.... my DH had one that was quite comfortable and he watched the whole thing on a monitor. Me... not sure what swear words I used on the doctor during the procedure, but they suggested a barium double contrast enema would be more appropriate. Not looking forward to the next one.

Fantastic run yesterday, JJJ!

Nice progression, Tammy. Good run, Esther!

4.5 sproinky miles after work on the main streets and up thru the park. Found that this and this ............ and oh, yea, this......got me in the groove despite pounding concrete and sucking diesel fumes!

Got to try out my new Brooks tights and love them. Got cold & wind shifted to the north as the day went on. 1 mile warmup, then the plan was to do 2.5 mile tempo pushing it the last half mile. I did 8:32, 8:40 (into the wind) and 8:16 pace for the half mile. Very pleased and it burned my quads so I know what some of you speedy ones mean when you say a run hurts. Half a mile cooldown.

11.5 this morning, 8:30 pace; then 6.5 this evening, 8:49 pace. wouldn't normally run in the evening before a morning speedworkout, but i'll be damned if my november mileage total starts with a "2". so that's 40 in two days, only 10 on tap for tomorrow.

by-the-way, Tamster, my easy pace tonight at 8:49/mi is my half-marathon race pace plus 2:30 per mile. i just happened to notice that your 5mi pace was your half-marathon race pace plus 0:05 per mile. hmmm? 5mi at half-marathon pace is a solid run.

Yes, JJJ! That was a fantastic run/hike/jog you pulled off yesterday!

Typical Northeast weather here. 23F this morning. 6 miles with 6 x 600m intervals. Did the intervals at the track as the Garmin seems to be on the fritz. I reloaded the firmware at work, but it will only power up after a reset, and it won't upload my runs. Could be a liberation I suppose.

Oh, do be careful, Erika!

Yeah, tw, been there, done that. The prep's the worst part. The procedure is not so bad. Try to get a morning appt so you're not starving yourself all day.

Great day yesterday, JJJ!

(((Erika))) Taking it easy sounds like the best thing right now.

That’s a lot of miles, mc.

Haven’t been here in a while. Running was just beginning to feel good about 2 weeks post marathon then I was sick for almost a week. Then company came for the holiday weekend. Luckily I was better in time to entertain guests.

Yesterday I ran 5 hilly solo and today 5 peppy towpath miles with MrF in irc followed by tucking in the garden for the winter. Two solid days of working outside makes a good kind of tired.

Back to school tomorrow after a nice long break and looking forward to a trail race Saturday.
