I'm up in Hartford and I ran outside this afternoon. It was around 25 degrees so I wore tights, a long sleeve compression top, jacket, hat and gloves. It was actually too hot when I was out in the sun.

It was easier today b/c it was sunny out, but a lot of it is mind over matter.

It isn't THAT cold out... yet. Tonight they are saying it will dip to 0 or so. I have just about had it with the winter. It can stop snowing anytime now and someone can turn up the heat a little on the sun. ( I believe Global warming is just a plot by the Canajuns to lengthen their summer vacation season. If NH benefits indirectly that would be okay by me)
OK my face froze on the first half of my run. I suppose because I was running into the wind. I was warmer on my way back. It was not fun but it sure beats the TM and I am glad I did it
I just got in from 12.5 miles on the snow covered streets and sidewalks in Burlington. It was 8F degrees with a light breeze at the start and about 0 when I finished. Back at my truck, I took off my shell and discovered that my fleece second layer was completely covered with ice on the sleeves and chest from perspiration.

Tomorrow after work I'm going to the indoor track.
What temperature is it?

Even I run in 25 degree weather. And I'm a suth'ner
Same here in NH. I had on 2 hats and 3 pairs of gloves... after 2 miles some fingers were numb. After 4 my beard was caked with ice (I guess from my breath?). The worst thing was it was an LT workout. I was about ready to bag it. But 3 miles into the LT I turned around... and immediately had to unzip my jacket, and take off one hat and two pairs of gloves. Rest of the LT (4 more miles) was a piece of cake!
25F isn't cold. -23F is cold, the temp at my house this morning.

I'm running this afternoon though. Should be a bit warmer than yesterday's 8F that Dr. Wu ran in. Run outside Dr. Wu!
For me it is all about the wind this time of year. It does not take much of a breeze to be pretty uncomfortable running in. If there is no wind I can tolerate temps down to about 0F, any worse then then that and would not be a runner. It is supposed to be bitchin windy this weekend so I am dreading my scheduled 18 miler (following loosely Pfitzinger 22/55 week program for VCM), yesterday Sunday was supposed to be nice but they switched that to crap too this morning. The other problem I have right now is our town is out of salt, the the roads are really slick. Fortunately there is no mention of pace on my long runs. During the week I run Treadmill, did 12 last night on the TM. I won't risk running on ice in the dark. Been there done that, turned spring into a rehab project. Every one has their tolerances. Yes the snowy mountains are pretty during the one clear day a week we can see them, but still put me into the looking forward to spring camp.
I hear you, Hazelrah. If I had to do 18, I'd be worried about the wind, too. There's ice in the forecast for early next week, too. I am very wary of running on icy surfaces, mostly because of my footing, but also because sometimes the cars slide towards one unpredictably!

Since the road I run on at home is dirt, there's usually sand on top for traction and I can avoid the icy spots relatively easily.

Good luck on your run this weekend!
I believe my butt was the only part of my body that wasn't cold

It was the wind that I didn't like. I can run in cold weather but cold wind is not fun. I know I shouldn't complain too much though. The Canadian folks would consider Ct temps balmy
Most of the Canajuns here are either in that little triangle of southern Ontario that is at the same latitude as northern California or else on the left coast which is...well..the left coast.

Most places in the northern US have it far colder and far snowier than we do.

Hearty Canajuns live in Winnipeg...there are 4 of them.

Grizzled and torque live in Calgary where it can't normally decide on the weather so it changes every 15 minutes.

I grew up in south east Michigan, the only place in the contiguous United States where if you want to go to Canada, head south ...
