Never thought I'd hear THAT!

He's doing fine in his summer job, but it is a very detailed, very mind-numbing task that they've set before him. He's got to wade through tens of thousands of agreements and sort out the pertinent ones, scan them, comment on them and then move on.

He found an interesting one from 1908 yesterday, half a page signed by the VP of the company at that time leasing a 5'x5' plot outside one of our yards to a Mr. Watkins so that he could sell apples and candies to the workers. 1$ a year.

His question "Why don't big companies have company historians?" We used to, but cut the job a decade or so ago. Pity.

But he got his first cheque and he's gaining some appreciation for the fact that a great deal of work is mind-numbing. Yes. Go back to school...

AHAHAHAHAHA!!!

In 2005 my son joined me at the mine for a summer before university. When he got his first paycheck he went nuts when he found out almost a third of his earnings went to the government. "What do they do with all that money?" was his incredulous query! Now, 6 years later he's STILL in school.

Last fall DD came to work at the mine for a few months. She was planning to stay until fall, but she left a month ago to go back to school because she couldn't handle getting up at 6 AM every morning to go to work!
