WE usually get a few hundred back but we do not "save" via the US Government. I have it figured out so that they take just enough not extra so I never expect a huge refund.

We usually get back too, but this year due to DW's "real" job, we have to pay a small amount to the state this year. WRT to having the government "save" for you, and also giving the govt. an interest free loan.

I know absolutely that if I withheld less, I would spend the money almost immediately. And, also, let's be extreme, how about you get a $1000 refund. At 2 percent interest (if you put it in a bank), compounded, over a year. How much is that? Like $50? Is that really worth it managing it yourself?
