It was a 3.1 mile race and I ended up finishing 2nd for my age group. I was pretty happy about that. I ran it in 22:35 not the best time but not bad for me this early in the season. My goal is to race under 20:00. I won a gift certificate for a running store.

What are your racing goals for the year?

Would you rather win some hardware or something else? I know money would be nice but I am never fast enough to place for the money

So far my goals are just to work on getting faster, get some of my short race times down. I have a 10k in a couple weeks that I am hoping to run under 45. I haven't really planned any races beyond that except a fall half marathon in which I'll I hope to run under 1:45, maybe faster depending on how my year goes!

I'm always happy to take home hardware from a race, and I'd like to take home cash or something else but I'm not that fast!

Yeah, it was in Mystic. It was windy but the sun was out so it wasn't too bad. I am running one in Niantic this weekend. I believe that is when it is.

nice time!! I would love to have a time like that for a 5K. My best is 24:49 I think?

My half marathon a week or so ago was a training run for me, so I didn't go out to race it. And I have a 10 mile race coming up (see below), which is just a training run for me - I'll be running it twice actually. So, my first goal race of the year is Eugene in May. It'll be my first marathon, so I'm merely wanting to get to the start line healthy and finish it with a smile on my face and not be injured. No real time goal in mind.

Thanks! I was actually happy with it all things considered. I am impressed you are going to run a marathon. I hope to do a half marathon this fall. That is another one of my goals.

There's a 20k (12.4 miles) in New Haven on Labor Day. And the Hartford Marathon (and half) is on October 11th this year. There are a few more, but I can't recall them right now.
