So I was swimming, and the coachette decided to dump me off the floatie this weekend, and she broke the band on my watch.

Now, I was wearing the watch swimming, hoping that it would speed the process of it dying on me, so I could buy a new one.

So, any recommendations?

The Adidas one at road runner looks pretty cool.

I have this one: Timex Ironman with FLIX

45 bucks at amazon

I got this one last year when my old timex band broke, then the battery went and replacing both was almost the cost of a new one.

Comfortable. 100 splits with a handy memory so you don't need to dump them all when you get home from a workout.

I really like that they've gotten smarter about the design too.

Other plusses - one big button on the front that you just mash to start, then again for splits so you don't have to remember which one to push. Once you've been on the chrono for a minute or 2, when you hit the mode button it just goes back to the clock and skips all the other ridiculous modes that no one uses.

The flix thing is handy too. If you run in the dark, you hold down the light button until it beeps then when you're running you just flick your wrist pretty hard and the light comes on.

I have a garmin 305 too and I really wish that the Garmin people would team up with Timex and work on the design of the 305. I think the 305 is very hard to use, especially on the fly. Like I'm in the middle of a run and say, want to know what time it is.

Have you created a new page on the display with just the time?

I have mine set to two pages.

Page 1 - Pace, distance and duration.
Page 2 - Time of day.

This way during a run if I need to know the time I simply have to press either the up or down button.

Thanks for the suggestions. My watches both just shite the bed and I was looking for a new one. I bought the timex ironman thru Amazon - good price!
Now I need to find some replacement sunglasses.
edit:
Do you know if Timex offers a watch repair service similar to Nike? I'm curious about battery replacement and maintaining the watch's waterproof integrity.

I believe you work directly with Timex rather than like Nike working with a third party. My DH uses timex and will stay with timex due to service. With Nike, if you don't use the company, your watch will not be waterproof. Last time I sent a Nike watch to replace the battery and watch band, the cost was going to be more than buying a new watch. Unfornuately, the new version of the Nike 50 is a piece of crap that doesn't store dates with data like the old version.

Campmor or Camphor, whatever it's called had the timex ironman uber cheap. Sunglasses too!

I ordered the 50 lap Ironman yesterday. Should arrive in a few days.

I was also looking at the Nike 50 lap watches, but the customer reviews said repeatedly that the watch band broke.

So, even though it was nicer looking, I passed on Nike, and went with the Timex.
