This is very old, but I saw it for the first time today. I think it's very cool.

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a
gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a
professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of
Paris early in the morning . The film was
limited for technical reasons (the
length of a single roll of 35mm motion picture film) to 10 minutes; the course
was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

No streets were closed, as Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit.

The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in
some stretches. The footage reveals him running real red
lights, nearly hitting
real pedestrians, and driving the wrong way up real one-way streets.

Upon showing the film in public for the first time, Lelouch was arrested. He
has never revealed the identity of the driver, and the film went underground.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqHrCLt3Geo

You know, I've seen this before and I was pretty skeptical the first time. Now I'm sure. That's no Ferrari. I mean, the sound is, but whatever they're driving sure as hell isn't a Ferrari. The sound is dubbed over.

Turn the sound off and picture the driver behind the wheel of this:

That's what it really was. A little less impressive, IMO.

That's not cool, that's being a d-bag. Do you cheer when people run red lights? Do you whoop and holler when someone drive 140MPH in your town on public streets?

That guy was a tool. Case closed.

This tread was up to this point mostly discussion about an impressive display of automobile handling. We return you now to our correspondent in the field covering the growing outrage concerning the lack of concern for public safety.

I'm sure no one advocates that type of driving IRL, but given that it does sound dubbed, its very possible this was staged and told that it was done on an open road just to add to the hype about it.
