But WHY does a 4.5 hour ride sound DREADFUL to me?<br><br>
I was HAPPY when I "only" had to do 4.5 hours training for IMFL.<br><br>
Oh well-I told sheldon to turn on the furnace...he said he was only lighting the pilot light<img alt="sad2.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad2.gif"><br><br>
Gotta get the winter weight off!

I think that's why Ann only gives me my swim workouts in little bits.<br>
That way, I only have the one thing to think about while swimming, and nothing to obsess over.<br><br>

I don't think Sheldon is willing to spend his Sat calling me with googlemaps on his laptop telling me when to turn and how fast to go.

Son and I spent 1:40 out there today. Had a BLAST! I can't wait 'til we can ride up to Grandma's again. 85m each way. See, when I'm out riding with my kids, it's "kid time", NOT "training time". I have these things figured out!!!

Hey, any of you who live where you can actually be riding outside in February have nothing to complain about. I would be joyous if I could get my bike out of my basement and ride outside. Instead, I have at least 6 more weeks of basement time to look forward to, and that's even being optimistic.<br><br>
Get yer butt out there and ride!

Hey--as long as the roads are clear, I'm on the road! Thursday's ride was a bit chilly--in the teens--but the booties kept our piggies pretty warm until the end of the ride. I used to be stuck in the basement 'til it was in the 50's. Not any more!!!

Yep - I'm with 4BM. If it's dry, I'm on the road. I haven't yet had to take a LR inside this season...knock on wood. Longest ride to date this year has been 2:30.<br><br>
I did convince a coworker to get off the trainer on the next nice day...which he did yesterday and crashed his bike breaking his left collarbone. <img alt="sad.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad.gif"> And no, he wasn't with me doing the near suicidal hills.

Back when I had handlebar palsy I had to do 4+ hours on the trainer. IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER! I win!<br><br>
Ok-so now I remember I have county honor chorus on sat...so now I have to run after my concert (I'll prolly run stone mountain) and then I have to bike/run/lift on sunday. Sigh. <img alt="banana.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/banana.gif"><img alt="sad2.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/sad2.gif"><img alt="banana.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/banana.gif">

There is a big trunk of nerves in the meaty part of the palm. Cyclists who ride with their elbows locked put their body weight on the nerves and cause pain and numbness untill they develop better technique. There is a similar condition called bike riders impotence in men, not to be confused with water skier's enema.

Is this something I should be looking forward too? <img alt="confused.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/confused.gif">

In my own defense of "bad technique..."<br><br>
This happened "suddenly" on the first day of Bike Ride Across GA. I had gotten a bike fit and my handlebars were not properly tightened. Sherry crossed over some very clunky RR tracks and all my weight was thrown forward onto the handlebars...which pretty much tipped way down.<br><br>
So...<img alt="uhoh2.gif" src="http://files.kickrunners.com/smilies/uhoh2.gif">

That's why it helps to carry a 5mm allen wrench in your jersey of saddlebag, they fit about 90% of the bolts on your bike. My bars do that all the time too, even with expensive stems, I've gotten where I can loosen the bolts and reposition them while riding, another useless bike skill...

It woulda helped if I knew they weren't tight before I ride. I DO carry a multi-tool...and at the next SAG stop I got it fixed up correctly...

I think mostly it requires core strength and some isometric strength in the arms to stay in the proper position, so on longer riders people get tired and tend to rest on locked arms. You sometimes catch the pros doing in in those long 5 hour races, but for the most part they have developed the discipline to stay in position for hours--it's not easy.
