One that tells time...no bells & whistles.

I've been wearing my FUGLY polar watch for a year.

Much better than wearing the old school big garmin to the mall.

Do you have a big white watch mark on your arm from it? I had the hugest watchmark from my Timex. This is the first year in ages I haven't had a watchmark - I tape my Garmin to the boat and I don't run when it's sunny. I wore a broken dress watch to my sister's wedding just to cover the big white patch! (Still had the tan lines from paddling tops that the dress didn't cover and the remains of a 46 on my arms that got burned in at a race two weeks prior!!)

Go for an automatic. It's mechanical art, a beautiful anachronism. My wife wears the watch below for everything except workouts. It's a men's mid-size diver, but it's perfect on her. I have a slightly different, larger version. I wear a Nike digital for running, etc.

I don't wear watches except for the occasional SUPER RARE dressy watch.

They get in my way when I write if I wear them on the left.
They get in my way when I mouse if I wear them on the right.

I do wear one when I swim and run, though....
Run, to keep track.
Swim, cause my contacts aren't quite good enough to let me see the pace clock at the other end of the pool, but are good enough for my face-wrist distance.

I used to never wear a watch. In fact, my parents gave me this fairly expensive Seiko watch as a birthday present - I opened the box and looked at but never put it on my wrist once.

Nowadays however, I'll sometimes on a whim go to the pool, the gym, on a run, and wish I had a watch on me. Thus, my cheapie Timex Ironman stays on my wrist pretty much all the time now.

Birthday. Watch. DOH!!! Yah, my parents did give me a real dress watch for my birthday a couple years ago. Still in the box... Perhaps that's why mom gave me pedals for my birthday last year???

Bike and run, I wear my garmin. Swim, I wear a cheapo digital that has time and stop watch. And I forever have a un-tanned watch/garmin mark.

I never used to wear watches...I thought they made me hot, like overheated. I should add that to my weird list. Now I wear a watch for biking and running and that is it. Oh wait, I wore my watch in Italy b/c my cell phone didn't have reception
