I realized that I'd like to name our future son Edison Arantes do Nascimento HerLastName MyLastName.

DW wasn't too thrilled with the idea

I think Pelé (there you go Martin... accents galore on a Mac ) would put too much pressure on him to be a soccer star... DW and I both are big soccer fans (and DW played in college.. was All-American) so we're hoping our kids will be little athletes. But I don't want to burden the kid with expectations.

However I have no issue burdening him with a name with 41 letters

That's funny -- I obviously have babies on the brain b/c I originally read "I had an episiotomy this morning." I like your version better.

Isn't the name Pele originally for a Hawaiian g-d? That should solve your soccer pressure right there.

Huh. I had no idea about the Hawaiian goddess thing.

wiki: "In Hawaiian mythology, Pele, pronounced /pele/, (peh-leh, not pay-lay) is the goddess of fire, lightning, dance, soccer, volcanoes and violence."

I guess the violence part isn't too cool. Volcanoes are pretty cool tho

Oh, and ElDude, speaking of babies: how's the project going? You don't mind if I ask on a totally public and open forum, do you?

We're on month 2 of 3 of Clomid. Probably going to jump right to IVF later in the year if no success until then.... we're trying to figure out the finances of doing that Damn, babies are expensive before they're even made!

Ouch. IVF is so expensive! Or you could do what we did: go through all the possibilities before IVF/IUI, then take a few months off in a relaxing, fun setting. It worked for us after 2+ years of trying! Or hey, maybe you just need to move to Asheville.

Just not right now (You can imagine what kind of ripple effect this is having on the whole medical community in WNC, let alone the physicians who worked there.)

Oy, that happened to a county hospital in LA last year (MLK-Drew, which became MLK-Harbor in an attempt to salvage, then the county pulled the plug). It's bad for the community to lose a hospital, but also bad to continue sh*tty medical care.... sometime you have to just weed out the chaff. Unfortunately the hospitals that go under tend to be the ones serving the poorest folk, who are the ones really suffering.

We're not dead-set on IVF quite yet; I think Nicole just wanted to move things along quickly because she's going to be starting a new job in August, and she was trying to avoid doing the hormonal meds for IVF during that first year (which is typically a tough year for new grads from residency). But I think that initial anxiety has calmed down and we're probably going the au naturale route for a while and see what happens.

My friend swears by it. She was to get a presciption for clomid and had to call and tell them that she was pregnant instead.

They had no problems at all conceiving their 2nd (miscarriage) and 3rd (healthy baby) pregnancies.
