So I'm doing a shakeout run and its a route I typically run in the morning or evening, an easy 4 mile route that I typically cover in typical fashion. Tonight was anything but.

I'm around 2.5 miles when a car gets next to me.. I couldnt see it, all I know is it had a spoiler and went Vrooooooom... so probably some punks from the vocational school or something idk. They slowed down and I thought they were letting me go through the turn and they would turn... I continued running and they pull right up to me and Pop! pop! pop! It stung like an em effer. I was so pissed off.. my shirt has 3 yellow stains on it.. idk how I can hide this from my parents but I dont want to make them worry. Hmm...

here are some pics.. laugh at it, I am.

REPORT IT!!! Seriously. I doubt that they thought they were going to seriously hurt you. But, they did. Report it. Even "blue car with a spoiler" might help police track the kids down. You probably are not their first target.

I agree! It needs to be reported. It is all fun and games to them right now. You don't want them to take it to the next level.

My oldest is 15yo. He does a bit of running. I asked my husband what he would do if our son got shot. He said yes, he would be ticked, and would report it. He would not tell our son (or me) to not run. These things do happen. But, you do need to report it to the police.

Okay--other parents, please chime in!!!

thanks for the advice all, but sadly I dont think the loco policia will do anything, 'black car with a spoiler' isn't very specific. I'll be sure to prowl the section during daylight and look for a car with a similar description

No rocks were handy? That's the first thing I do when something shady goes down during my run. Bend down and see what you're working with lol. And damn they have a shitty aim if they shot 3 rapidly...they're all over the place.

Punks these days ....glad you're okay Zach.

Geez, glad you are okay. Those things hurt like heck! The store I worked at growing up sold them. Me and a co-worker once had a mini-war in the store after closing. It was a video store and I remember why that mini war only happened once! Bruises for days. Be safe, stay away from black cars with spoilers!

I am glad you were not seriously hurt.

I would say report it. They police might have record of this happening to others in the same area. If the punks find it a fun way to pass the time they will continue and someone could get badly hurt.

I agree with all - report it!

I got bit by a dog once. I reported it to the police thinking the same as you, they don't do anything. Turns out I was the third person bit by the same dog. The owners got a huge fine and had to either destroy the dog or get it out of town. I hate seeing an animal get destroyed because the owners can't control it, but I also value my legs! Fortunately, the dog had its shots!

Seems like the proper thing to do would be to take the dog out of town, and destroy the owners... I mean, the dog was just not restrained or properly socialized which isn't it's fault. Not blaming you, I'd have reported it too... I just feel bad that the dog had to take the brunt of that one, when it seems like the owners were extremely neglectful if it happened 3 times.

Ummm... that's assault and battery... or maybe just battery. In any case it's pretty serious. Definitely report it, give as much detail as you can to the police, even if they don't get them this time, maybe they'll step up patrols, and be on the lookout so either it won't happen again - or if it does happen again, they'll be able to get them.

Glad your not seriously hurt! I know paintballs hurt, I've played paintball a couple of times as a 'work - stress relief outing' and been hit where I didn't have much padding.
