TThe MRI showed two tendons (flexor digitorum brevis and plantar apneurosis tendons) are strained, and the ligament(s?) supporting my arch (spring ligament I believe) are sprained. He said it is more or less acute PF that shouldn't last like the chronic kind does.

The treatment is ice, elevate, anti-inflammatories, continue swimming and cycling. When it's not painful I can do elliptical, walking, light running (preferably treadmill) to exercise but I have to stop if it hurts or if it's painful after. (It is definitely still painful.)

I will go for some PT, but couldn't get in until a week from Monday (4/2).

The Dr's best guess was it will take 3-4 weeks to heal. Of course, I got the "Were you planning on running any more marathons?" and look of skepticism (not because of the injury, he said, but because "why anyone would want to do that".

Thanks sierra.

My birthday is in a little less than a month and I think going for a pain-free run would make a lovely gift! (Maybe even an early gift ...)

Not sure about any races at this point. That's probably premature, but hard to let go of all the great training I put in.

Still achy, not as bad as the race day but bad enough to limit some activites (including some yoga/pilates stuff). I'm stepping up my icing regimen.

I'm fighting off the blues about it, too. But that's not productive and of course I WILL be back.

I'm starting to wonder if heat and/or arch supports would be helpful at this point.

Jen, I'm thinking about calling the ART guy today. He's an hour away, so it's a bit of a time issue to get to appts. My massage therapist got in to the injured area on Tuesday and that actually felt pretty good. I thought I'd be kicking her!

Next week is PT and a podiatrist appt. to see if I should go with some orthotic or arch support device.
