I have been sending emails to the Georgia Public Service Commission complaining about their rubber stamping of Atlanta Gas Light and Georgia Power Rates at consumer expense. Normally I don't even get an acknowledgement.

AGL just paid 2.4 billion dollars for an Illinois plant two months after they requested increases to consumer gas bills to pay for "expansion". Georgia Power is requesting a substantial rate increase right now so consumers can pay for future expansions in advance and retain their guaranteed 12% rate of return to their stockholders.

At any rate, 20 years or so ago GPSC protected consumers against unjustified rate increases. These days the Commission routinely overrides their own staff and rubber stamps AGL and Georgia Power rate requests. So this morning I fired off an email suggesting the Governor should perhaps cut funding to them rather than teachers in the upcoming legislative session.

I have a voice mail from Lauren "Bubba" McDonald, GSPC Chairperson, to give him a call to discuss my concerns about the Commission.

Hmmm, do you suppose if I send President Obama an email I can get him to give me a call to discuss his capitulation to the Republicans on tax increases . Or would I just get a bunch of SS agents to visit me???
