or fold the laundry.

The boys are sleeping, soundly. I have done four loads of grownup laundry, one load of diaper laundry, and I made granola this morning. The kitchen looks like an oatmeal bomb has exploded, and I SHOULD clean it before Mark gets home.

But I want to enjoy the momentary quiet in my home, and the ability to just sit still and watch my babies sleep.

Enjoy the moment. The mess will still be there when you're ready!

You deserve a short break, Aimee, I'm sure you're exhausted taking care of two newborns. I don't know Mark but I'm sure he won't mind if you take a well deserved rest. And if he does mind, well, I'll punch him in the nose

Skip it for now. You'll get to it later. As long as you're not leaving it long enough to attract rodents, it'll be fine You deserve some rest!

oh he doesn't mind... I just know that once he gets home, I'll want to put dinner in the oven.

And I am not, at this point, certain where to find my oven. Or any of my plates, for that matter.

I love how they make faces in their sleep...Joel has a big, gummy grin, and Roman smirks.

I wish. I'm a daytime insomniac. I've even tried sleeping in in the mornings, and find I'm awake by 6 anyway.

Combine in a large bowl:

8 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup almonds (sliced)
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup hulled sunflower seeds
1 cup wheat germ
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup brown sugar

Beat together:

3/4 cup cooking oil
1/3 cup water
1/2 cup honey
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Pour liquid mixture into cereal mixture. Stir until thoroughly coated. Spread the granola on two large cookie sheets and bake in a 250 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours, turning every 30 minutes or so. Allow to cool on cookie sheets and then add 1 cup raisins or craisins.

Take a nap.

My guys are 15, 13, 11 and 9yo. I just got back from grocery shopping. Food has been put away (kids carries it in from the van), but empty plastic bags are all over the floor. There are two laundry baskets of clean folded clothes waiting to be taken upstairs and put away. A load in the washer and another in the dryer. Three kids are done with school work, I need to get the cattle prod on the fourth. But, that means I have three kids worth of school work to grade. Son #1 just came in with a sliced finger. Son #3 has to go to the doctor tomorrow for a recheck from the ER last week. Most likely his thumb is broken and should have been casted. It's 4:30 and I haven't started dinner. AND I NEED A NAP!!!

Long way of saying--welcome to motherhood. TAKE A NAP WHILE YOU CAN!!!

I ended up emptying the dishwasher and carrying the laundry upstairs. The rest will sort itself out eventually. I found my oven too. its right where it always was, I just couldn't see it until I moved all the cookie sheets.

No kidding. The mess will be there 20 years later, no matter how many times you've cleaned it up in between.
