I have a week until the entry fee goes up. It would be my first tri, and I could totally do the distances today (although the swim would be snail-like, literally). I don't know what is stopping me. Fear of the unknown, mainly, and some fear of the bike portion (due to newbie road cyclist stuff).

Please kick me in the butt until I do it. Here:

You're absolutely right. This is totally within your grasp/capability. What are you waiting for?

Before my first sprint, I received a worksheet copy of a tri seminar titled, "Transition - The fourth sport of triathlon."

Reading this guide, and following the tips on how to prepare for the transitions, really helped put my mind at ease and prepared me for smooth (and fast) transitions.

I am waiting for an omen!

Yeah, the transition stuff will definitely require practice.

Also there are so many USAT rules to accidentally break!

And my flip turns are rusty at best.

You are right though, I have no good excuse, nor do I want one.

Oh good lord, woman! Just do it!

I am not doing flip turns in my pool tri this weekend. Many people won't be doing them. You'll do fine on the bike. How else are you going to get experience? DO IT!!!!!!

Just sign up, and worry about it later. That's my motto.

What Meri said!

Peer pressure, peer pressure!

In all seriousness, completing my first tri was one of the most rewarding things I ever did. It was a women's tri, and my mom, stepdad, hubby, and gradparents were there. It was so great, a memory I'll never forget.

The best part is wearing your numbers on your arms and legs for a few days because they won't wash off. Talk about cool.

Do it, or we'll all have to come down there and give you a bare-butt spanking to get you in gear!

Okay, here's why:
1. It's a 50 meter pool, which makes the snake swim much easier than in a 25 meter pool.
2. Great atmosphere.
3. The neighborhood you run thru is mostly shaded, if I remember right.
4. The first part of the bike course is on an oversized road with bike lane. It's very safe feeling and comfortable to ride in.
5. There's a good chance I'm doing it and I want to meet an imaginary friend from the interweb. Come on, SGH, I'm tired of not being able to play in the "Who Have You Met?" Threads.

Do it for me, SGH.

I will let you know by Monday if I'm doing it for sure.

Okay, I'm in. Actually, I registered for two.

http://robiouslandingsprint.racesonline.com/ 750m swim, 18.8 mile bike, 5k run

http://richmondsprinttri.racesonline.com/ 400m swim, 20km bike, 5k run

The second one is the one we're doing together. The first just kinda looked cool. It'll be my first open water tri and I'm worried b/c a knee injury has kept me side-lined until recently, so it might be tough to get a good enough base, but, nothing ventured, nothing gained, I always say.
