Butt tape and 3 on the tm, with poor Gus snuggled up to the base of the tm. A big storm was rolling through and the lightning was like a strobe light. (Our tm is in the sunroom, so surrounded on 3 sides with big windows. He is usually in there with me when I run, but not snuggling the base.)

I either bailed on or rescheduled my three miles this morning in favor of sleep. We'll see how that one turns out.

Hiya, guys. Sounds like you guys have had some good runs and cross-training stuff going on...

I ran last night for the first time since the race. Legs still felt a bit sore, but it felt good to get moving again.

I finally got an email from the RD with my "unofficial time". Now I'm wondering when it becomes official. Anyway, it looks like I finished in 5:15:12, which was 17th out of 65 runners.

Since 65 isn't a big number, I took a quick scan of the other runners, for some reason or another. And down the list, coming in just over 7 hours, was a girl I went to high school with! I'm sure it must be her, because it's a somewhat unusual name, the age is right, and I did go to high school in Connecticut, so it would make sense. I never saw her, and probably wouldn't have even recognized her if I did. But that's kinda funny...

I'm gonna get back out for another run today, I hope. However, my 11th wedding anniversary is on Friday, and I probably oughtta go out and buy something. So maybe I should be shopping instead of running. Hopefully I'll have time for both...

Great job, BoB! Have fun shopping!

Amy - I slept in too this morning. But I also went for a run. I decided I'd go in a bit late this morning. I ended up running 7 with 2 at goal marathon pace (7:52). Overall, it went decent. And my numbers (pace with corresponding heart rate) were better than this run both before the Illinois Marathon (3:27:4x) and Chicago (3:26:12) in 2009. Come on 3:25!!! I know I have it in me!

Trying not to read too much into a run, but I am feeling optimistic.

Go, Mindi, Go! Optimism is a good thing, when it's well placed and not a substitution for doing the work. I see no reason why you can't be optimistic!

I had no electricity this morning so I will ride the bike after work (assuming I have power). The next few days are really light (on the 10k plan) I as I ramp up for the run. I'm feeling a little geeked by simply picking up my pre-race goodies tomorrow. That will make me actually feel like this is going down on Saturday! LOL

Tim and Bob I read up a lot yesterday about the St. Jude run in Memphis. Seems very flat with only a total of 100 feet of elevation change. Here is the web site with more information: St. Judes

Ran some TT stuff last night but due to the weather (very windy, cold and raining), it did not go well. Boo. Got up and did 3 before work and doing 7 after work - but before a happy hr.

Morning all! I'll be doing the run / yoga / run combo again tonight, it's really nice outside, a bit warm for my tastes but still pleasant and mood-lifting.

Mindi - you're sooo due for that 3:25, fleet feet!!

Feeling like a blob this week. Ugh. None of my runs have been easy. Pacing's on, but the running just hasn't felt as comfortable. Probably a combo of the heat, lack of sleep, allergies, and a couple other things.

Sweated my ass off in the 90 minute power yoga class last night. It was 98* in the studio and some girl almost passed out and had to be led out in the middle of class. I was sweating like not 10, but 100 whole men. Soaked. I stopped in Wawa for a cold icee after the class, and I think I scared the cashier. "Just get done working out?" he asked with wide eyes. I told him I debated not coming in with how gross I looked but I was too thirsty and ran out of water. He laughed and said I didn't look bad, just hot.

Finished 5 miles on the flat loop around town, with K. Felt ok, but feeling unsure about my race in a few weeks. We'll see.

While the storms have passed for the moment, we have a bunch of human drama down the road. A guy is holed up in a house threatening to blow it up with the gas line and has guns. Crazy!
