No run for me today. It was forecast to be a rainy, windy morning and it is. That, and I hadn't taken a day off in 9 days. And my back started getting a bit achy yesterday. So I slept in - almost 10 hours worth! We'll get back to it tomorrow.

I'm reading Eric Clapton's autobiography now, after having read Patty Boyd's (Eric's ex) autobiography last week. If you're into music or perhaps the guitar, his is a very interesting read. He's actually a fair writer, which I guess isn't all that surprising given his creative musical artistic talent. How he survived the mid to late 70's is a miracle. I'm looking forward to reading the upcoming chapters about the tragedy of his son. That will likely be a heartbreaking read.

Take it easy out there those of you running in the snow and ice. We don't need any more injuries!

Keith Richards is alive?

I hope you folks don't mind me rejoining over here at KR. I've been over at RA since the CR meltdown, and it looks like most of the people posting over on the daily at RA are posting to the daily here as well, so I'd like to pull up stakes.

I've actually got no run to post, though, since I gave myself a nasty contusion on the ball of my foot. It's enough to change the way I walk, so I'm sure it would change my running gait as well.

Hoped for another run today, but came down yesterday with a cough and slight fever, so I'm taking it easy at home.

Here's an interesting blog article from Scientific American about our adaptation to long-distance running: http://science-community.sciam.com/b...City/300004286.

Good morning all. No run for me today as I have ambulance duty this morning. We got about 3 inches of snow late yesterday and it's been pouring rain most of the night so now it's slick and slushy. Almost all of my staff was late into work today. My dogs weren't happy when I dragged them out at 5:30 this morning. They shivered pitiously as if I was this cruel beast to make them pee outside.

Hally, ksrunr: Congratulations on actually posting runs! Nice to see you here, BTY.

No run for me today. It being a stepback week, I'm not doing the Wednesday double and will just swim 1700m tonight after work.

Had a lovely dinner at Government House last night. I haven't had much success spiriting Vivian or Jean-Louis from SS' service, but I need to get to work on acquiring an Aide-de-Camp, a butler, waiters, and a chef for my home. A protocol officer might be nice, too.

No run here either, but I may go for a walk later, possibly before work. I slept only 5 hours, for the last couple of days, helping DD1 put together her applications. She is a night owl, and most days sleeps in the afternoon, then does her homework at night. When she needs help with something, it seriously cuts into my sleep time. Thank goodness all college applications need to be in by this weekend, and we can get back to our normal routine. DD3 was home sick from school for the last two days and DD2 just woke up sick too. I have a painful lymphnode on my neck, and have zero energy, but will go to work anyways, as usual. In other words it is overall miserable in our home right now, but I see light at the end of the tunnel. This weekend I am sleeping in!
Have good runs, everybody.
He is so cool, saw him at the show over Thanksgiving howling like a champ. The judge got a kick out of it then too but he didn't win.

Nice runs, Hally, KS, Lynden. For the rest of you, today's a good day to fill up your tank for tomorrow.

We had about 3" of snow before it turnd over to freezing rain. So after an hour of shoveling, I went to the gym for another wonderful ride on the TM. 8 miles, 1:06:61 (8:21 pace at 1 deg incline).

So I'm fed up with this weather pattern. DW and I are about to leave for the airport and fly to Italy to visit with DD. Maybe the weather will be better there. I'll talk to you guys next week.

Good Morning Kicksters. BTY, glad to see you here!
(Whine on)
Is it ok if I say blah! I reluctantly managed 4 miles monday and today I will run short with the same attitude. The snow, ice and mud is wearing me out, sore muscles, high heartrate and slower pace. After moving about in the morning my hr when setting down is about the same 51, but my blood pressure is up 161/91. Not sure what is going on, could be stress. My BP is normally in the 140/80 area prior to a run. Kay has been pretty needy and demanding for awhile, havn't had the caregiver up as much because she can't get up here because of the snow. I had to do some pleading with her daughters to get them to take her for 2 weeks so that I can have a break, so I will be getting a break the first 2 weeks in March. I think I am just worn out. (Whine off)

The sun is shining, the caregiver will be here in a few minutes, it's 32 degrees and no wind so time for a run. Good runs all, Larry

Nice to see you BTY!

Lab - I was glad to see a beagle win also. Uno is definitely a most fine looking beagle! I'm a big dog lover and we wouldn't get a house dog, but I had a Beagle growing up (name Ty - after Tyrone Cobb) and he was a great dog. As far as smaller dogs go, a beagle is my favorite.

Breger - I'll put that book on my reading list and try to get to that someday. I really like Clapton and I bet his autobiography is riveting. Thanks for the review on that.

I'll get in my run after work. I'm planning on 5 miles today.

Nice to see Labdude in a Better mood Than Yesterday
Speaking of ... HI BTY!
Lynden, Sal ... Vivian's been AWOL since I started painting. Totally useless, that woman. I'm up to my eyeballs in dust bunnies ... which won't be remedied for a while as I'm off to Singapore on Saturday for a week.

That calls for fruit dancing, I'd say!

Welcome aboard BTY!
Larry, glad to hear you are getting a caregiver break.

I almost beat the wind this balmy 39 degree morning but not quite. The weather channel says the wind is currently 29 mph with gusts to 39. Winds may reach 50 mph later today -- hope this doesn't create a flight problem for MrC who is returning from Dallas.

7 miles in 1:12 (pace of 10:17). Felt like I was dragging a plow the last 2 miles into the headwind but overall a nice run.

Isn't tomwhite's avatar Keith Richards?
Uno is sweet! My childhood dog was a beagle. Always have been partial to them.
Hi and welcome over, bty.
This is the 3rd day in a row of school cancellations, using our 5th and final calamity day, so if they need to cancel again we will have to make up days in the spring. This morning I shoveled several inches of new snow and babysat Donovan so DIL could run errands. I'll head to the Y this afternoon for my second ever treadmill run. I don't think I'd be able to do a MP run on the roads the way they are. Later.
