Morning!

I had my last track workout last night. I may try to get a few miles in this afternoon after work, but otherwise low-key training day for me.

Good morning. Skipped my run yesterday because I was feeling a little beat up. I did some lifting, but gave the legs a rest. I feel a bit better today.

I've got my 5k and Pizza Extravaganza tonight. This is one of the largest 5ks I've done. Something like 2500 runners and 1000 pizzas. This race is too crowded to move too fast, so I won't be getting another PR. But that's okay. All the free pizza will make up for that.

Greetings all.

Bob - Free pizza sounds like a nice way to end up the day!

6 TM'ed miles last night + core. Today, i've completed 2/3 of my arm workouts already. Will finish up a set at work, go to spinning at the Y after work, and will get my pull ups / drop downs taken care of, too.

Change that to today and that's me. Although it's more that I'm tired & my heart is heavy than worked-too-hard muscles.

So I walked both dogs instead. Gus made a new friend. We saw a lady I used to do pottery with out with her german shepherd/golden lab mix. Gus's reaction was funny. He doesn't see other g.shepherd dogs often, so when he does he does a hilarious double take and gets all excited. Anyway, he and beau frolicked and got along beautifully. (After those 4 loose dogs I never know what reaction to expect.)

I'm not running today, but I woke up to this story that was pretty amusing:

Bob I really like that idea! Mmm...pizza! I'm always looking for neat events to incorporate into our physical activity strategy and this might be something that would work! We have some good pizza places downtown! Is it just one place that sponsors it? Or more than one?

Got 3 miles done this morning followed by a dip in the pool. I'm noticing my ITB issue is acting up again. I guess because I've been running almost everyday for the last month. I remember having this issue a few years back when I was marathon training. I had to ice the crap out of my legs. *sigh* I hope I can nip this in the bud so it doesn't become too much of a problem again!

The race is in Westfield NJ, and is actually sponsored by the "Downtown Westfield Corportation". That sounds rather nebulous and I don't know exactly who they are. I just checked out their website, and it doesn't offer too much more help. I guess they're like a Chamber of Commerce.

I can't find this info written anywhere, but I've heard that all the pizza joints in town get together to supply the food. I don't know how many that is, but it's gotta be half a dozen at least.

2500 people in a small town race? Yeah, it's definitely popular. So I'm sure something like it would work well elsewhere. If you seriously want to try something similar, I'd suggest you contact someone at the DWC and see what they say...

That's a great story, Vidalia!

I forgot to wash my running clothes (I have only the one pair of running pants) so might not get in a run today. I did get in a 1 mile walk at lunch yesterday, not sure if I will be able to do the same today because I'm wearing a dress. My sandals are walkable, though, so maybe I'll get out anyway.

Have fun tonight Bob!! That sounds like a good time.

Another bike ride for me this morning, 42 minutes. I can't believe I got DOMS this bad from that trail race. Well, I guess I can believe it since I'm not use to running trails, especially technical trails.

I rarely get muscle soreness from running, I don't know why. I get it from weight lifting so I know they do get sore. Maybe I'm not running hard enough. Anyway, after the Tecumseh Trail Marathon I had such bad muscle soreness! omigod, the worst I have ever ever had from running, from anything for that matter. Holy crap it was bad. My sister and I were both hobbling for days. I had some soreness after Afton too but not as bad. Trails will definitely do it to you!

Virtual running partner! I ran 4 last night too - at 9:30 p.m. CST If I didn't do it then it wasn't going to get done at all so I sucked it up and ran because my goal is to run every run on my schedule this week! It was kinda neat running at that time, the lightening bugs were out. I had a heavy dinner and was hoping that it would have digested well enough by then to not cause a problem. I didn't feel barfy but my stomach still felt full and heavy. ugh.

Tonight is this free 20 minute run at the Running Room. You get a free hat. So I registered and I'm going. I have 8 to run today so the plan is to run the slightly more than 3 miles to the RR and then 20 minutes should be about 2 miles for me, and then the slightly more than 3 miles home. Should be fun! But hot. This morning it was only 61 degrees out there!

Happy Hump Day all! I pushed my intervals to this morning but got 'em done and got 'em done well! 8.55 miles in total with 6 x 800 - I felt great in the warm-up and during the intervals, not pushing very hard but staying on pace and focusing on form. On the cool down back home, however, I started to come unraveled. Really needed some Gatorade or similar but only had water. Slinked my way home and am spending some extended time in the A/C. :)

boB - sounds like a fun race.

I too got my intervals done last night. Let me just say that that's a tough workout. I ran 20 200m repeats with 200m recoveries in between. My goal was to run the 200s at about 6:15 pace and like maria focus on form and efficiency. Took me a while to get locked into pace though. I did the first one in :39 [4:47] pace. I found the sweet spot at :47 seconds [about 6:07 pace]. The slowest one I did was a :50 [about 6:25 pace].

Can't decide what to do tonight. I had planned on doing a long run, since i haven't gone long in a couple of weeks. But the local running club is staging a one mile race at the track where I was last night. The race fee is $1. So I could go do that instead. Need to decide.

Morning! I got another 4 on the gym TM this morning. As I was walking back to the office, I got caught in another torrential downpour. Thankfully I was close to the office so I didn't get too wet. The new TM will be delivered tomorrow afternoon! You do not know how excited I am.

Bob - geez you can't expect a PR everytime.. :D

Why not?? It's more fun that way! Plus, if I keep PRing every time, eventually I'll get my time down to zero. Which would be pretty cool.

Morning. I was lazy this morning and couldn't get out of bed.

Track workout last night. Much better and stronger than last week. Started with 6x300m (1:00 recovery) (59, 60, 60, 62, 61, 57 - :60 is 5:20/mile) - 2 mile tempo (6:46, 6:43) - 3x300m (64, 61, 62). I was satisfied where I was at compared to last week. Did I mention, I hate running that hard?

Tim - Don't do it! Mile races hurt too much. Oh, nice workout last night.

Ha - we truly were out at the same time - I was out at 8:30 EST. Got to see a nice sunset, and a pretty bright move until the haze started easing in.
