It's sure dark these mornings! Got into work and out for a run.... this time wearing two plastic wrist reflectors to make sure I could be seen in the early dawn light. 4 easy miles around the neighbourhood.

Morning Heme

I debated all yesterday whether to do an eliptical workout. Finally decided to go but lower the resistence. After grabbing a bite to eat and sitting down at the computer, an hour later I decided to scrap the workout and rest for this mornings run. Since my shoes are still caked with mud from Woodstock, I broke out a new pair of Mizunos. They felt just like the Brooks Ghost I have been wearing so I didn't have any problems. It took me a while to wake up and get loosened up as I avg a little over 7:30 pace the first 4 uphill miles. Once I turned and started on the rollers, I kept a pretty steady pace just over 7 minute/mile. The weather was nice and cool and I felt pretty good, so I did a little longer loop and picked up the pace coming back into town. The last mile started downhill so I took off and held on running through town to finish with a 6:25 last mile. Total for the run was 12 miles in 1:25:49 for a 7:09 pace.

I signed up for the Louisville Downtown Doubler 15k next sunday so I will be running the 30k. This is my next test to see if I can break 3 in the marathon. My plan is to get to 10 miles at 6:50 pace and then see how long I can hold 6:40 pace. With near perfect weather expected this weekend, I almost registered for the Erie Marathon, but I only want to take one shot at it and it may be a bit early. The difficult part is that I want to jump in a marathon when the weather is nice and I am ready but the large ones make this difficult and the small ones I may be running alone for long portions. Right now I am looking at the Des Moines marathon on the 16th of October

Morning you two and those to follow.

Heme - I knew you'd have a plan for the week without DH. :) Have fun shopping. Smart idea about the wrist bands. I'm going to order a road i.d. now. The runner yesterday didn't have any i.d. on him and I don't know how they figured out who he was. I never run with i.d. but I bike with it. DW sometimes runs with her road i.d. Important if you're running alone for sure. And if your friends don't know contact numbers it could help too.

Good luck racing RIP. I've got Des Moines marathon on my to do list. I used to make sales call in Des Moines and I liked the city. Very similare to Wichita where I grew up.

I'm suppose to run a 15k race this Saturday in memory of a friend who died a little over a year ago. but it's going to be hot and my breathing issues are not getting better. It'll be a day to day if I race but I'll run it regardless. I've just called my doc to get me into a athlete friendly cardialogist for tests; if nothing else for peace of mind. I'm scheduled 10.16 for Maine marathon.

Have fun shopping, Heme! I find myself puttering around the house more when DH is gone. He's in Bellevue WA today but just a short trip; he'll be home tomorrow. Last night I went down the road to pick some lingonberries, but they're getting a little overripe. Picked about 3 cups. Tonight if it's not raining after work I'll go down another trail where I saw a bunch a couple weeks ago.

KS that was such a tragic thing to happen in your town. I pulled up the CC newspaper and just can't imagine how the kids are dealing with that. We had something similar happen here a couple weeks ago. An older woman on too many meds mowed down an 11 year old boy in a crosswalk, almost hit the crossing guard. She ran over a mailbox and ended up in someone's yard. The boy died a couple days later. She was obviously under the influence of something, but I haven't heard details.

I hope you get some answers about your breathing. I guess that first doc made sense in a way, but it's still not right.

Rip's racing is so amazing. I read the hippy race report real briefly and will go back when I have more time. I hate going off course in races... done it twice.

Nice to have ptbrown posting! Hi Mike! Hi Johnny! Hi Happy Feat! Hi tomwhite! I'm sure I'm missing someone...

4.8 miles yesterday, got caught in the rain. Made my "easy" pace a little quicker than planned. I hate getting rained on when I have to come back to work. Today it's nice out now, but might rain later so I'll go out at lunch again today and hope for better results.
