Hello....is there anybody out there?

Did y'all sleep in this morning?

Beach day for us if the sun comes back out. I might have to find a tanning booth before I get back from vacation if this keeps up. How can you come back from Hilton Head paler than when you left! It's a crime I tell ya!

Morning! No fun for me today. I have too much to do and too little time. Sure sign I'll be procrastinating on here all day:)

Oh fer crying out loud....

I just got a call here at work from my wife. She was on her way to work today, and someone rear-ended her while she was stopped at an intersection. We've had the car for 4 days and it's got like 100 miles on it, and now it's already been in an accident!

Apparently it wasn't a big deal, but my wife was a wreck when she called. Nobody is hurt, which of course is the most important thing. She said someone was calling the cops, and God willing, it will be completely the fault of the guy who bumped her.

Lordy. My insurance rates are already going to go up becuase of the last accident, whether it's deemed my fault or not. (Thank you, New Jersey!) Now we gotta deal with this again. Crap!

Ugh. I WISH I had slept in. Last night was a doozy, as far as the # of wake-ups. This crap is getting old. Especially after taking an ambien on Monday night and sleeping so beautifully then.

Bob. Aaack! good grief. Glad that the missus is okay, first and foremost. Secondly, unless she had non-working tail lights (highly unlikely on a new car), surely your rates wouldn't increase at all on something that was completely the other driver's fault.

~~~~~~~~~~Wow, boB! I'm glad everyone's alright and I'm sending tons of peaceful vibes to NJ for your whole family ~~~~~~~~~~
I did sleep in today but that was because I missed the mid-afternoon alarm alerting me to take my medication. Thus, I took it 4 hours late which led to difficulty getting up this morning. When I checked my weather station, I was sick because it's only 62* right now. I've been crabbing all summer about working out in the heat and on the first deliciously cool morning in months, I sleep in because of bad organization. Boo!
I'm going to write off this week in terms of getting anything done. I have a morning walk scheduled with a colleague who's just back from maternity leave who I haven't spoken to since April, a lunch with another colleague, and office hours this afternoon where my honors thesis student and I will be discussing his project for the year. Not too conducive to getting my own stuff done.
Have a good one today!
good morning, my pretties.
Sorry to hear about the new car BoB. I'm glad Maggie is alright.
Missy! Wonderfully Gigantic Congratulations on the birth of your daughter. You've chosen a lovely name. Enjoy each other!
I'm home from work today. DS#3 is getting an expander put in. This is a new thing for us but I can't say that I am surprised. Dawson had enlarged adenoids, enlarged tonsillis and fluid in his ears when he was younger. That caused him to develop sleep apnea and to be a daytime mouth breather. You can't have your mouth gaping open 24 hours a day everyday for 6 years without it taking a tole on your development. So, he has a very narrow jaw, a crooked bite and many many teeth. This is the first day of many many years of orthodontic appointements. Wish us luck!
NJ insurance doesn't care who's fault it is. If you get in an accident your rates increase, period.
Sorry, Bob, that is totally the suck! But so glad it wasn't serious and Maggie is ok.
Ok, we're headed to the beach. Damn sun isn't cooperating but we're going to give it a shot anyway. Hmmmm, maybe my iBook will be readable there since there are so many clouds!
Heather's right, in new Jersey, if you submit a claim, it doesn't matter whether it was completely your fault or completely the other guy's fault, or somewhere in between. In this case, it was clearly completely the other guy's fault. Maggie was at a complete stop when she was rear-ended. No doubt about it. In our previous accident, I'm still waiting for the final police report. I'll maintain that it wasn't my fault, but my guess is that I'll be deemed partially responsible, with blame split among all the parties. So okay fine, if you want to raise my rates a little for that one, I won't be happy about it, but I'll live with it. But this one today will just bother me. With NJ's no-fault laws, the insurance company can claim that today's accident is proof that we live in a dangerous neighborhood, and that's the justification for the rising rates. The only thing preventing the insurance company from jacking our rates through the roof would be that we could then leave them and go to another insurance company. But they frown on stuff like that, since they've just paid out a claim. It's gonna be interesting to see what happens...
So glad Maggie is ok. What shit luck though! And it's my understanding that ANY time someone rear ends you it's their fault. Even if they rear ended you because they got rear ended and it was a chain reaction.
I don't have any fun yet to counter that non-fun.
I'm crabby that I didn't get up to run this morning. I don't know what my problem is. I had one week where I was getting up in the a.m. and getting out there and that was it.
This work project is slowing and nearing the end. I've been spreading myself thin at my regular job since I started on this project, so it'll be nice to get back to that and catch up. Did I tell you that a small thank-you luncheon was scheduled for that work project and I was not invited? And it's not that I want to go, but really? I did a shit ton of work on this. I shouldn't be left off the invite list, even if it was an oversight/mistake.
Bob, can you appeal it? I appealed when I was in an accident 18 mos ago and won...they reversed the price increase.
boB - I remember that being the case in Michigan too...with No Fault insurance. Now, here in Alabama, there are many things that we don't get right, but this is not one of them. In your situation, the driver of the car that did the rear ending's insurance would pay to have YOUR car fixed. You would just place a courtesy call to your insurance to let them know that you were in an accident but that you wouldn't be filing a claim. Oh and the other person's insurance would get you a rental car while yours is in the shop. Don't ask me why I know this, but I do know it from experience.
NJ insurance stuff: How the heck can it be legal if, through absolutely no fault of your own, your vehicle is damaged? That just doesn't sound right!! Perhaps I'm spoiled on GA's way of looking at things. Unless it's a case where one car pulls out in front of another and gets rear ended (failure to yield right of way), the driver doing the rear-ending is always at fault.
Awesome Maureen! That's got to be a once in a lifetime event. Wish I had been there with you. Only here, in Ottawa, with one of the Senators hoisting it over his head. I'd even settle for a Montreal Canadian holding it over his head.... not that I'm picky or anything.
No fault car insurance is stupid. Do they have no fault theft insurance in New Jersey too? How about no fault fire insurance?
