Ailarie - you are an angel. What a super sweet thing to do!! Do you think your friend Stephanie would know of anyone who might want a pen pal? I miss writing letters.

(((Beaker's finger))) I gotta say I'm still mightily impressed by the pregnant lady with a broken finger who STILL goes to the gym and works out.

Yea, yea, yea. Me, too! I love writing letters (and getting them, too). I have time for a pen pal!

(((Lori))) Poor finger! Is it on your dominant hand? I imagine that would make it a little more difficult to be a lab scientist.

Who watched BL Couples last night? I won't give anything away by saying that show may have jumped the shark. Stooopid.

(((Beaker and her finger & rump and some for baby Beaker too)))

Ailarie - you totally made both Stephanie and her buddy's day. Good on you!

Mornin' all,

Lori, glad to see you're going in to get checked out. They'll prob. just do a non-stress test or ultra sound to make sure all is ok. But since you said you felt movement last night, that's good. Hope all is well, and take care of that finger!

Litch Very good idea for saving for college.

Morning.

This may end up being the longest day ever. Baseball practice at 8:30 am so I was here by 8 (left the house at 7:20 or so) and I have a women's basketball game that starts at 7:30 pm tonight, so I should be home by 10 pm. Can I have another cup of coffee? Or can I just skip to the moderately drinking part...the person with the PhD says it's good for me!

(((Beaker))) and (((Baby Beaker)))

Beaker - Glad to hear that you're going in to make sure all is well with the bambino/bambina. Best to be safe. Hope they can also help ya out with your hand.. ouchies!

BL - Doh.. I laid on the floor to snuggle with one of my dogs last night, and the next thing I knew, it was 35 minutes into BL. I haven't caught much of this season (not even sure when it started), but what I saw last night was interesting. Maybe next week I can stay awake through the whole thing!

BL- I don't care for that show, nor for most reality TV shows. I had enough of the popularity contest thing in junior high/high school, thank you.

However, if Voodoo ever makes it onto Survivor, I'll watch it just for him.

I watched it on DVR last night, but it was getting late so I had to stop it at the weigh in part. I'm kinda confused about what they're doing with the teams last night. I think it's getting too complicated! LOL Who's your favorite? I'm either rooting for the orange team or the We didn't know each other before this team (forget the color). The son on the orange team looks like the older brother on Family Guy. Sorta disturbing. I like the mom, though.

Lori! Take care of yourself and baby Beaker! Hope the finger is ok.

Ailarie- super cool thing you're doing there! I remember having a penpal soldier back during the Gulf war. I was in HS. Guy from FL. Lost contact at some point.

I'm so sleepy from getting up to run this morning. I wanna go back to bed. Or get more coffee.

Um, have you met Miss P???? Because you seem to know her already! And we always call "Penny Girl" to her....

Lovely thing you did with your friend's colleague.

I'm working at home this morning...love that. Off to a meeting downtown this afternoon, which is the 2nd part of the cont ed thing, which I nearly fell asleep in part 1, but they had cookies, so it's all good.

Getting my haircut between home and meeting...12:30.

DH left for Phoenix yesterday (biz trip) and won't be back til Friday. I usually like having the house to myself, but I was a little lonely last night, even though I had a costume meeting from 7-9 and wasn't even awake that long once I got home. I love my new job, but there are days when I don't talk to anyone at work and it sorta gets to me.

I don't drink caffeine in the morning, because it causes me to have anxiety attacks, so I can't relate to the coffee need. I feel for you though!

By the way... any idea why "Spirit of the Marathon" is ONLY being shown for one day?

That just doesn't make sense to me. I can understand it not being a huge blockbuster, really only appealing to a select group of folks, but still... you think they'd at least keep it going over the weekend!

Hopefully it'll come out on DVD, as I won't be able to see it on the 24th.

I got distracted!

Lori!!!! Hope your finger and the babe are ok!!!

LL...dude. Get some sleep or skip a run or something. You won't do anyone any good if you get yourself sick.

BL: don't watch it. I feel sorta like KrisBard on this point. Even American Idol is too much for me at this point. I can't watch all the bad, exploited singers.

Colleen: you pay less than $600 in rent? Lucky gal...we never paid less than $750 and that was over 10 years ago. And Tim's idea about the college fund was brilliant.

Bob - you'd be surprised. I think most of us go around oblivious to what goes on in the way of emergencies in our towns. I live in a very rural and upscale area but I was shocked when I first got my pager and heard all of the stuff which happens on a daily basis.

Moe - thanks!

G'morning all - had set up an appt with a podiatrist to look into getting orthotics on Feb. 11th yesterday. There was no hurry to get it in ASAP, as I'm headed over to DC next week on work training.

Later, I got a call on the way home from the doc's office saying their system had crashed and that my previous appt. time had been rebooked. They were now asking if the 26th would be okay for me. I was on the verge of getting peeved, until they clarified it would be for this Saturday, Jan. 26th. Geez, I got a quicker appt. and didn't really ask for or need it - cool!

Dang, LL - it's like you're your own Station 51 there (yeah, I'm dating myself with that reference)

((((((Beaker's finger & Baby Beaker)))))

Funny - I was wondering what was going on with BL last night with all those shenanigans. Maybe it was a good thing I had the workout music turned up and the TV sound turned down.

Ailarie - props to you for doing what you're doing. As for Spirit Of The Marathon, I think they added in a February 21 showing due to popular demand, if I remember the thread in the Race forum correctly

Geez, bard/Kris - and I was all ready to show up with a carton of skim milk already

Caffeine - I've realized the last week or so I'm getting too much of the stuff. Making it a point to cut down on the coffee cup portions (ideally I'd like to be getting more sleep during the weekdays, but you do what you can do...)

Random observation: I'd love to be an ad scriptwriter and get paid if I got to write dialogue like this (caught last night on a cable channel ad)

Female: "Hey honey, what do you have there?"
Male: "Oh, this is a male enhancement product."
Female: "You mean like for building up muscles and stuff?"
Male: "No, I mean <ahem> a male enhancement product."
Female: "Oooh <perks up>, does it really work?"

Good morning gang

((( Beaker ))) Can I kiss your finger and make it better? Glad you are getting checked out though.

Not a whole lot going on here. Just doing my usual morning procrastinating.

Clare Thats not a bad price for childcare. We pay 500 a month for our DS and thats a private in-home day care. Most public daycares here in the valley get anywere from 150-300 a week. I dont know how some people do it. You wont hear me complaining about my 500 a month

Litch thats an excellent idea on the college fund! Might have to start looking into doing that.

Ll huge kudos out to you for the sacrifices you are making!

Ailarie very cool that you are doing that for your penpal/friend. Id be interested in writing a solider too.

Here's a QOD This was inspired by something I see everyday and reading a friend's blog. What one word best describes your house or apartment?

QOD: transitional?

Which reminds me, I haven't posted an update on the home buying process: inspection went great Friday, only found 4-5 things that needed to be corrected, two already taken care of, the rest will be done when they install the new furnace Monday. Appraisal scheduled for this week. Realtor is pushing for a closing by the end of the month (she may be reaching a bit, but still)
