This has already been a long day...not bad, just feels like it should be 4:30pm instead of 9:30am. Not a good start.

*yawn* I need to catch up on sleep apparently. I went to bed at 10:30, slept fairly well (although I woke up around 4), but I'm dragging.

In succession this morning, I heard Adele's
,

Mumford and Sons
,

and Florence and the Machine
.

QOD - As a little girl, my mother listened to country music and my favorite song was Paper Roses sung by Marie Osmond. Then as I got older and had my own record player, I had ABBA's Greatest Hits. Dancing Queen is still considered by my brothers and sisters to be MY song!

Hi all - bah, more rain (what's new). Supposedly will start drying out starting Sunday, but I'll believe it when I see the sun myself for a whole day.

Maureen - I think the first time I felt old was when I saw the B-52s plastered on a billboard for a Reno-based casino. I remember them as I was just entering my teenage years pogoing like crazy on an early SNL showing and having my eyes bug out - I had never seen anything like that before. Now they were prancing to cashless adults my age

QOD: Tom Jones' "What's New Pussycat" - my mom was a huge Tom Jones fan and I became quite accustomed to that powerful baritone voice of his as a kid.

QOD: Most of disco kinda blends together, since I was so young then. But I think I remember "Shadow Dancing" by Andy Gibb first...

Genesis -- Land Of Confusion

Gretchen Wilson -- ******* Woman

The Bee Gees -- Jive Talking

Avril Lavigne -- Complicated

Yay! Love all the music. Now I have "Brick House" in my head, which is a good thing.

QOD: Survivor - Eye of the Tiger. At least that is the first cassette tape I owned and I listened to it over and over and over. Next was Billy Joel's Innocent Man record and a Jefferson Starship record. Later I became a complete Prince fanatic. Ha.

Ahh, Brick House - that was one of the first R&B songs I enjoyed; my aunt babysat me as a kid and that's the kind of stuff she would play. After a big dose of stuff like Tom Jones and the like and then AOR (Adult Oriented Rock - ahh, remember those formats?), it took me a bit of getting used to but eventually I absorbed it.

Ahh, cassettes - fun stuff! I uncovered a bunch of my old ones during my extended winter cleaning - not quite sure what to do with them

Prince - I was a pretty huge fan of him too; I remember standing in line with some friends to get into the a showing of "Purple Rain" during its premiere weekend

Great QOD! It's hard for me to answer. I am thankful for the time period in which I was born. It provided a rich variety of musical types for me to be exposed to as a kid. I probably got into music in the mid seventies. At that time disco was about at it's zenith, there was actual great pop music on the radio (as opposed to today), rock legends were in their prime such as Zeppelin, the Stones, WINGS, good R & B hits and there was some fantastic funk music. The radio was truly a rich source of music.

I do remember my first two cassettes. My cousin had REO Speedwagon's Hi Infidelity and the J Giles Band's Freeze Frame. So to be like my older cousin I asked my folks to buy those two cassettes for me. Ah good times. :)

it went reaalllly well. i couldn't have asked for more from her :) she was just a doll and hammed it up with strangers on the train and subway alike, then fell asleep as we walked over to the hospital. then, i fed her breakfast and played with her during the meeting and she was such a good girl and allowed me to participate in a break out session even!

if hauling my 7 month old baby to a 3 hr meeting beginning at 7am doesn't show my commitment to my job, i'm not sure what does! heh.
