Hi Kicksters!

I would like to focus more on HR training this fall. However, I seem to have an older HR monitor that won't let me set my own %HR and HR numbers. I would like to be able to "tell" my monitor that at 65% my HR is 142 bpm (not the 120bmp that the HRM thinks I am at based on my age, height and weight).

In addition, I would like a monitor that I can wear while swimming.

Any recommendations or suggestions?

Thanks in advance! Happy Tuesday!

My garmins did a good job at this. But that assumes you need GPS, too? I hear a lot of people like Polar

I had a polar that I really liked- everything but the GPS. Then I had a bike accident.

So I switched to a Timex. I use this when swimming and in races.

And now I have a Garmin. But I don't swim with it.

http://www.dcrainmaker.com/ has a lot of reviews! I wish I had seen this website before I got my Garmin last year. I would have chosen differently.

can you tell the monitor you are younger so it calculates a different set of ranges? The garmin watches that record hr and let you look at it on your computer along with speed and such are pretty cool, i have a big 305, it's pretty fun

i think so, i wear mine if i want to record my hr for a running or bike race and look at it later, I had a powermeter but have just been using the garmin lately. It's nice if I take people on an interesting ride I can send them a map of where we went. I use it when I'm designing a MTB or cyclocross race course as it makes it easy to measure distances. They sell a speed-cadence adapter for your bike too, I have one but don't bother with it
