No idea. When I was 275# it was 290. Last time I checked about 3 years ago after I lost the weight it was 160. Hmmm, I should go get it checked.

My total is a little high....like 220 or something, but my HDL is 75, which is good. I'd like my total to be lower.... My doc doesn't seem concerned, but I want my LDL to be near or below 100. We have lots of high cholesterol problems in my family. I'm having my numbers re-done in mid-April. See how that goes!

I had it checked about a month ago. I don't remember the numbers. The nurse said that I was well below the radar and whatever I was doing to keep on doing it. I get a EKG stress test in about 3 weeks, will be interesting to see what I do on that.

I believe your LDL should be below 100. Sheldon?

Mine was 186 in October. I was so excited because it was down 30 points from the previous fall.

Cholesterol 120 range 0-200
Triglycerides 23 range 35-150
HDL 45
LDL 70 range 0-130
Chol/HDL/ ratio 2.67 range 0.00-4.50

I think these numbers are pretty good. The cardiologist didn't. He put me on Lipitor. He wants my LDL < 60 and my HDL > than 60.
I bitched about it because I think the numbers are darn near perfect. He said they would be perfect if I hadn't had a heart attack. Go figure.

HDL 74
LDL DIRECT 92

last test
I was told what is most important is the ratio of HDL and LDL and that mine was good My online test results say Standard for LDL is below 130. Mine didn't test triglyclerides... it was "LIPID PANEL, NONFASTING" -- I love Kaiser and being able to pull up all my results online

Oh, I'm only a 23 year old female but high cholesterol runs in the family. My dad's is high and his HDL is very, very low

Mine sucks thanks to Mom and Dad. Even though I eat well and have run regularly for the last 12 years I still need to be on medication to keep it within "normal" limits. I don't like relying on medication but it beats the alternative.

dont remember the individual numbers, but it used to piss my Dr off that this morbidly obese middle age man had no issues on this area.

The guidelines are pretty clear.

Total is useless.
It's the LDL and HDL you should be concerned with.
HDL needs to be greater than 40 for males, greater then 60 for females.
LDL should be <120 if your healthy.
<100 if you have family history of CAD(Coronary Artery Disease) of other risk factors.
< 70 if you have Diabetes or CAD.

The numbers will never add up. The particles have different sizes and most machines will only count the larger particles. They have tests available for particle size.

Karen, you should have that done. A LDL of 70 or less is good enough for you. No studies have proved that lowering it below that is beneficial.

OK, had to dig and find the numbers. These are from last year. My first blood tests in 10 years. As you know I'm terrified of doctors and needles. The doc was a friend, and I told him that unless I'm dying, to not even bother commenting on the results, he just emailed them to me.

CHOLESTEROL 179
HDL 62
CHOL/HDL RATIO 2.9
LDL 110
TRIGLYCERIDES 33

So... is that good? Compared to what you say, the triglycerides are a bit low, I should go eat some chocolate.
