How to get evicted from a Provincial Park.

Saturday we came back to camp to find a very LOUD group of people were ensconced nearby. Our site was at the bottom of a U in the road, they were across from us and up the left hand arm, and our next neighbours to our left had had enough - young kids and all.

But it was 6 and apparently they'd been warned to keep it down. Teenagers, drunk already, it didn't look like it would end well. The camp attendant would come by, things would quieten down and then an explosion of whoops and hollers and screams.

About 8:30 there was an explosion and out from the bushes comes one guy in his underwear being chased bearfooted up the road. Our neighbour went over to ask them to be quiet. They, about 6 or 7 of them tell him to commit a physically impossible act. So up came the camp attendant again. Quiet.

We shrugged, sat at the campfire and had a quiet evening until at about 10 it exploded again. We made ready for bed when a truck parked just outside our site. A conservation officer emerged and ccame over to ask about the noise. He was 5'10" if that, slight and he didn't have any weaponry. "Good Luck" I thought to myself as he went over to confront the barbarian horde.

Silence. Dead silence, not even a peep. 10 minutes later he came back.

"They're in their tents, the fire is out and the open liquor has been emptied. They're evicted."

"Evicted? You can't have them drive... they're drunk."

"Oh, they won't be driving anywhere. You won't have any trouble. Have a good night."

So I toddled off to loo and when I returned there's a procession of RCMP cars carrying away some very distraught looking teenagers.

In the morning the officer returned and supervised as a very sullen looking young woman dismantles the campsite. He moseys on over. "Lesson 1: If you're going to be stupid, don't do it in public".

Still not sure how he was able to corral the horde without a peep of protest. Might want to bottle that.

I wonder too! Some people exude that type of authority.. but perhaps the genuine threat/actual arrest made the difference!

My DH has been playing some concerts in the various White Mt Nat. Forest camp grounds this summer and he gets a free camp site as part of the deal. He has a gig at what used to be our favorite campground, Russell Pond. I am wary of going up though since it seems more and more people go up to party and be loud and camping in a "city" is not my idea of fun. Wish it people could just go up and enjoy the forest and such!
