I was away for the weekend, but cooked two meals for him. He went out to the store and found the need to buy chocolate pudding, he also opened the nuts and he ate two (!) ccokie bags. The house is very clean, though.

Mr. Tithers can take care of himself. The dogs are allowed inthe bed whilst I'm gone...

I just don't like that he lets Doris sleep on my side sleeper pillow. I must admit...she does it correctly and looks cute...but STILL!

The more relevant question is how I do when he's away. He's the chef in the family. He'll make himself a nice veggie strifry, while I rely on sandwiches and frozen meals.

When we were first together, in our early to mi-20s, whenever he'd leave for a weekend, I'd run out and grab a pack of cigarettes as soon as he left. i'm much more mature now.

Bugdude is a totally equal partner in all things domestic at our house.

Of the two of us, it's probably easiest with me gone.

She left 7 hours ago; gone for two days.
The living room is cleaner than this morning. The clothes are folded and put away.
Kids and I have done crafts, gone for a bike ride to run errands, then by the park on the way home.
Kids are fed - hot, home cooked meal: protein, veggies, a little starch - naan (their favorite).
Dishes are done.

Survive?
not at all.
I live just as well.
The biggest issue is that I'll have to hire a sitter while I teach the next few nights. So, more expensive....that sucks.

Two words: canned corn

Seriously, my DH can get so involved in his work or projects that he forgets to eat unless I call him. But I stock easy favorites (soups, brie and pita chips, canned corn, etc) and he does just fine. And usually he keeps the house just as clean.

I would love to know where you ladies found these DHs that clean. I must have a defective model. I wonder if I can return him for a full refund.

Seriously, I don't know how my DH survives when I am gone. He lives on packets of oatmeal for breakfast and ramen noodles for dinner. Dishes are piled on the counter and the house looks like a war zone and he's been the only one in it. I don't get it. I am just thankful that pets get fed!

I do well when Mrs. Pete's not here. I do the vast majority of the cooking and about 41% of hte cleaning anywy so it's not a huge adjustment. DD doesn't do so well; she's still quite the mamma's girl so I just make sure we have lots to do to keep her distracted.

He does as well as any intelligent human being. I don't understand why he wouldn't.
