I should say that I wasn't interested in DH at the time. He was in a relationship...and he was OLD! I can remember the first time his girlfriend and I walked out of the building together. He looked at me and did a triple take. It was awe.some.

She cheated on him and they broke up. We were just friends, but we would hang out a lot. We argued a lot. My sister said to me one time that we were going to get married. My response? "Do you know how old he is??" Yes, I really said that. Hey...I was 19 or something.

We dated for two years and then he decided that he just couldn't live without me. I was the best thing to ever happen to him. So he proposed. We couldn't wait for the wedding, so we eloped while I was out in GA for Airborne graduation. That was almost 10 years ago.

one night stand, baby!

(ok, actually, he was a friend-of-a-friend that got invited out to dinner with us for cinco de mayo. said friend was 45 minutes late to meet us at a very crowded mexican place that won't put people on the list until the entire party is there.... so we had many, many margaritas before dinner and really hit it off. after an improv show (and beer) and a trip to an irish pub (and more beer) we were super drunk, the friend I was visiting was hooking up with a racist garbageman from south boston, and I didn't want to sleep on her couch and listen to that.... yeah, and we were all into each other.

anyway, months pass, I move to boston, we become friends with no interest in each other (lots of dating advice going on), then we become friends with bennies with no interest in dating, then we started dating and the rest is history.

oh, and the husband just joined kick (also a runner/triathlete) so if you run into AdCo, that's how he met his wife.

I used to love that place. *sigh*

I went to a party full of med school geeks. Three of them hovered around me all night. (yeah, my friend and i could be entertaining ). went out with one. nicest guy I ever dated, so I decided to keep him. 18 years in 3 weeks, I've put up with the guy, but I'll keep him for 18 more

Back in college I was planning on driving home to Oregon (from Colorado) for a couple of weeks before starting my summer job. My roommate was one of the "pieces of furniture"* at the girl's dorm on campus. He'd knew that one of the girls was looking for a ride home for the summer (to SW Washington), and thought maybe we could get together to share the ride.

The first time we actually saw each other, however, we pretty much ignored each other. I was in my apartment doing homework when my roommate came in with a couple of the girls from the dorm. He had an extensive sci-fi collection, and these girls were interested in borrowing some books. They came in, looked over his titles, and left. She vaguely remembers that there was a body over in the corner when she stopped by.

*There were several guys that hung around the girl's dorm so much the girls considered them part of the furniture.

My freshman year in college I got a summer internship at Company A. DH also had an internship at Company A. A flock of us interns/co-ops hung out, ate lunch together, etc. DH and I are both pretty quiet and several of the other interns/co-ops were chatterboxes, so there wasn't a whole lot of interaction.

Fast forward a semester or two and I got a co-op job at Company B. I arrive on my first day and am waiting in the lobby for the HR folks to gather the google of co-ops and DH walks in. We exchange a pleasant, "How weird is this?" and go our separate ways to our separate assignments. 15 minutes later his boss plunks him down next to me to be trained by the same technician. Again, a flock of us hung out/ate lunch etc.

The next semester I was in machining quality control group. He was in the machining group. So, he'd equip the machine with a new tool and I'd do a bunch of QC on it to qualify it for production. I couldn't get away from this guy.

The next semester, I was in the advanced engineering group and he was still in the machining group - no professional interaction required. Then his boss plunks him down in the desk next to mine. Sheesh! Finally, I agreed to go on a date with him if he'd agree to stop stalking me.

9 months later we were engaged. Two years later we were married. It's been 9 years of wedded blisss*.

*and by "wedded bliss" I mean that generally, when push comes to shove, I decide not to kill him.
