Hi Guys

We have a slight problem with the L.I.T. Hats

I had a long talk with Matt at Headsweats and it seems that his boss is not prepared to do the hats with just a $95 deposit (I think that Matt is totally in the Shit - sorry Matt)

Basically the company policy for Custom stuff is for Payment in advance (Certainly that has happened with other companies that have done custom stuff for my old tri club)

So the total cost of the hats and visors (69) in total plus postage to 45 people is $1236.50 this works out at about $17.92 per item (this will depend on the hat/visor mix and how many for each individual )

We have 2 choiced -

1 Someone pays Headsweats the full amount $1236.50 and we than all pay that person back for the correct amounts
2 We contact Matt at Headsweats individually and pay him for our items
(He has a list of the orders and our forum names)

It would be easier for Headsweats if 1 person pays the single amount (So they dont have to run 45 seperate transactions) and I would be happy to do that however that would mean that all you guys not in the UK (everyone except Pete) would either be charged for paying me in British Pounds or I would have to pay my bank to convert from US dollars

He is really desperate to Make this Happen as Thor would say

He is still happy to post the final product out to us indivdually and he will have a picture of the sample hat in the next day or 2

SO is anyone able/willing to pay the full amount (I think that this is a lot to ask any individual) or do we tell him that we have to pay him seperately

Please let me know any thoughts on this

And I thought that it was all going so smoothly

I think that the best option would be for us to each pay individually. I realize that this is not the best way for Head Sweats, but it will avoid you, Neil, or anyone else getting stuck with the bill when someone backs out. It is very admirable that you would think to do so, but I think that it is really too risky.

Just let me know where to pay and I will be happy to.

I agree. No one should pay the full amount regardless of whether they are willing to do so. Matt should get us the final version available for inspection and once we give final approval we can pay individually. Once they have payment from the critical number of persons, Headsweats can get er done.

I once threw a bachelor party for a guy who I was not all that good friends with. I did it to be a nice guy because I knew he really wanted a party to celebrate his waning days but he didn't have a best man and nobody to that point stepped to the plate. So I offered to help him out, and he jumped all over it. So I got on the horn, gathered his friends and family, and then plotted our fun night. I made it clear we were all supposed to pay our own way. I got stiffed really hard that night. About $1000. No kidding.

I think individually is the best bet too ... it would avoid currency conversion and transaction/conversion fees. Sorry you and Matt had to go through this. His boss is being a weiner.

Thor: Though I didn't get stiffed for as much, I still got stiffed when I arranged a class reunion in a Toronto hotspot. Dinner was already covered (I made them pay that in advance, thank God) but some people stiffed me for drinks as the restaurant wouldn't make out individual bills as they do here in Montreal.

Neil: Let us know how we can make our order and where we can write to commend Matt for all his amazing customer service.

Individually would probably be best for the reasons mentioned. What about Paypal?? Would there be a way to do it that way? Everyone could pay one person in advance via PayPal, then that person could pay for the entire order with one check/charge. It still may not work for logistical reasons, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

I think individually is best, and would be willing to put a deposit of 50% or even pay full amount, given that the full amount is less than $20.

I like the PayPal idea as well.....
is there a way an account or "kitty" could be set up so that we could put our individual amounts in, then it gets transferred as a lump sum to them?

Each order still has to be prepared separately though, different ship-to addresses, and mine might involve customs since I am in Canada ... would be easier just to have them charge the order over the phone on our card than for us to ask that one person take care of everything. Cut out the middle man where possible. Neil did an amazing job as our front man ... a huge thank you!

I dont think that Matt is concerned that it will cost him/them more to do it this way - He is trying his best to accommodate us as fully as possible and not get canned at the same time

I do think that once we get this all sorted out that we should all send Headsweats an e-mail telling the company what a great guy Matt has been over this

Neil,
Do you think it would help if we sent a few emails now so he does not get canned? He has obviously gone above and beyond and I would help do whatever we can to keep him in good graces.

Maybe if we offer to all bump up our payments to 20/40 heck they cant say no to more money, and what were we going to pay 18?/ no one can complain about an extra two bucks (in this sport) to save the mans hide. and headsweats gets another $140 win/win. Just a thought

Matt gets my vote for customer service for the decade.

Where can we e-mail to help save his hide?
