Hi KS! Good luck at the vet's.

Hi TW!

We had our share of newbs in the gym as well this morning. One young fellow with an iPod on decided to occupy a part of the aerobics floor with a mat, medicine ball, stability ball and foam roller, despite us all setting up the spin bikes around him for a class, and proceeded to go through a set of very bizarre exercises with the worst form I've ever seen. There was plenty of room in other parts of the gym, but he seemed determined that this would be his space. The fitness leader and I kept looking at each other during the class, trying our best to hide our astonishment at the guy's ungainliness and obliviousness to his surroundings, with both of us thinking "there's a back injury just waiting to happen!". At the end of the class, I had to get his attention so he'd move out of the way so we could put the bikes back. Some people's children!

Good day, all.

KS, good luck at the docs. Hermie, it seems like there are a whole bunch of new fitness centers opening, in addition to all those New Year folk. Let's see how many of these new businesses last.

Brrrr. 22 degrees today, with some gusts. I got in 4 miles. A little harder than my new usual.

Good runs, all

Hi Baba. The weak will be eliminated.

Well I have good and bad news and they are the same. x rays show no damage and the vet could find no real cause or damage anywhere. Verdict? Anti inflamatories (sp?) for a while and low impact exercise like swimming and eliptical (sp?) Poor speeeling today? She said take 3-4 weeks off from running. So now the waiting begins.

Tom - I probably won't have to crawl Knoxville now.

Sorry to hear you're officially on the DL, KS, but am glad there's no obvious damage.

Lioness..... thanks for your comment on the Morton's. My sports doc is big on a new injection type.. Serapin..... as well as orthotics. The injections aren't working and I'm not a fan of orthotics (been there, done that, no help..... twice), so I'll see if I can discuss cortisone with my GP instead. She's a former sports med herself so I expect she might be OK with it.

Baba.... this is in our gym at work. Our fitness manager is quietly debating whether or not she should intervene with the guy and offer some advice. We're all afraid he's going to hurt himself.

Irregular Tammy checking in. . . or Abby Normal as I'm sometimes called by my DH.

I've been off work for the last week or so, which means also off line since I got rid of the home computer. Had a very nice week off and got in daily trail running with the dogs. Not much, but at least 2.5 to 3 miles each morning, with another afternoon walk most days too.

Time for me to start thinking of some running goals and races for 2012. No racing or goal setting for the 2nd half of 2011 resulted in a decline in the cardio fitness and an increase the poundage. ughhh.

I had a couple of those breaks last year KS.

Hi Tamster. I gave up the tv but wouldn't give up the internet even if I didn't need it for work.

Hi TW, Baba, and Heme

Between sneezing and blowing my nose all day I managed a good eliptical workout. I felt

much better than yesterday and ended up going 76 minutes. I may bail on the 17 mile mountain

fun run I was going to do and head down to watch the olympic marathon trials the following week.

Now I need to find a race to do while I am down there.

Hi all, yes I know it's only 9:20 pm and I just got home from a meeting, but it does seem late to jump on the TM. So I'm having popcorn and wine and checking email.

Good job today Baba!

KS - excuse me for asking but why "3-4 weeks off from running" if there is "no real cause or damage anywhere"? Unless your symptoms actually prevent you from running (which I've had happen), then I don't understand why you would go along with such a crazy notion. But...you know me....

Hi Rip - hope you can shake that cold in no time. They say the body's resistance goes down when it's tired. Maybe it's a good thing racing season is winding down for you....though it certainly was worth it!

Missin' Johnny - hope he checks in one of these days soon.
