So, I'm making Easter dinner for my family (dad and brothers) today.

Dad wants me to get a Honeybaked Ham. Thing is, that's $50 at least.
I can go to Kroger, get a ham, and use a honey glaze and approximate the thing for like $20. My dad is paying for the ham (I'm buying the sides) but y'know he doesn't have much money.... I think he wants a honeybaked ham because that's what my mom always used (because we'd have ham and turkey on Easter, and the oven needed to be open for the turkey...)

Think I can cook a ham that would taste like the Honeybaked ham?

Maybe he is trying to relive old times or something .... or maybe he isn't aware of just how much HB hams cost. Ask him about an alternative without sounding like you think he's an idiot.
To actually answer your question, I'd think it would be tough to replicate that sweet, crunchy/sticky tasty stuff that covers a HB ham. We had a store brand spiral sliced glazed ham yesterday and, while I did eat what seemed like half of it myself, it wasn't as good as a Honeybaked.
