I had had one years back and didn't remember it being so bad either, but couple the close quarters with having your head in a vise and it felt quite confining.

The last one I had was for my shoulder. It was an open-architecture machine so it felt pleny airy, but it was very slow. They had me on my side the entire time, though, and it started getting a little painful by the end of the procedure.

I was about to suggest that they give me a break because the shoulder was really starting to burn. Normally I can fall asleep anywhere (I fall asleep during physio with the electrical shock thingy and the neck traction thingy) but this felt a bit more like torture.

You have waited long enough to get this MRI, I just hope that they are able to get a better diagnosis for you with this.

I had other appointments scheduled - they just were either when the kids were getting set up at school or on their birthday, so the delay is mine.

I think they had a freak-out the last time I went in for an MRI. There was a guy in the waiting room when I went into the machine room that had obviously come out of the MRI, and he was looking a little flustered. He was still there when I finished my scan, and they were asking him if he was ready to try again.

I had one and this was before open MRIs (that i know of) and I thought I was going to die. It was on my head, so not only was i in the tube, i had a thing over my face like hannibal lechter. OMG it was horrifying. I brought a cassette tape (this is dating it, huh?) with me of music to listen to but the machine was so loud. They also never briefed me that i was going to get contrast and at the time I was petrified of needles (hahahhaaaa, obviously not anymore) and that just made it all the worse. I had an EEG as well around the same time and they put a flashing light in your face and try to trigger a seizure. It is fantabulous

I had one once. I think I was having my first and only migraine so before they sent me for the MRI I got a shot in the arm of some sort of sleepy happy juice. When they put me in the MRI, I was so happy to be able to lie down and fall asleep that I don't remember much of the experience at all. Except them waking me up so I could go home. I hated that part.

I have been in the room when my kidlet was getting hers and when my sister got one as well. It doesn't look fun and the noise is awful.

Meri--the MRI I had was on my pelvis, and they used contrast. Before she did the contrast she warned me it would feel like I was peeing myself. Sure enough, I could have sworn I peed myself! Weirdest feeling! Worst part was they didn't find anything wrong and tried to tell me that the pain was all in my head.
