Holy cow. This is enraging.

<p>My uncle never went to the doc.  Ever.  Was finally convinced by his bro-in-law to get a check up.</p>

<p>Turns out he has prostate cancer.</p>

<p>Now, their insurance coverage through work was canceled staff wide.  Right before he was</p>
<p>to begin treatments.  Apparently, since the cancellation was staff wide, COBRA was not available</p>
<p>to them and they had to go with a catastrophic policy which will be very prohibitive and dear on</p>
<p>their salary.</p>

<p>That is terrible.  I hold my breath every March (our policy goes from April - March) to see what they are coming up with.   I think we are safe this coming year.  Who knows what happens in the future with a stalemated Congress and executive branch over the next couple of years.</p>

<p>But your uncle is exhibit A of why we need insurance reform in the good old U.S.A.   I'm actually surprised he can even obtain catastrophic insurance unless it excludes his pre-existing condition.</p>
