Challenge

"Run" at minimum a mile per day from now until the end of the year.

As of this writing, we have 13 streakers (out of 21 total, including two yet to report) who completed Week 4, and even more impressive is that those 13 also earned Week 1 & 2 & 3, so that's 13 streakers over a span of nearly 4 weeks... almost a full month!

Want to join? Raise your hand. I'll add you to the list.

Week 5 - Monday, Dec. 19 thru. Sunday, Dec. 26

Week #5 is the fourth full week and sure to be the hardest to date, what with all the holiday festivities rocking into swing. This will be hard both physically and mentally, so be strong, set a time for yourself, and just do it. And if you catch yourself over-thinking things... STOP. Just do.

Monday & Tuesday

You were on your own for Monday and Tuesday this week because, yeah, I still suck in not getting this out sooner. If you still have to get in Tuesday and are looking for something different, why not grab that Santa hat (hey, you only have a few day's per year when you can wear it, so pull it over your head), laced the up the shoes, and do one of your favorite routes in the opposite direction. As you are running, insert 4 pickups for 1 minute (or to the third telephone pole) where you ease into a fast but under control pace. Just get the legs firing and furnace kicking. That's all. Take 3 to 5 minutes jog in between.

Wednesday

This may be your last opportunity for a Christmas Lights Run. You know the drill. Have fun! And don't forget the Santa hat. And hey, if you are wondering why Christmas and not some other holiday, know that I am not discriminating. Many of you know my beliefs, and yes, even I celebrate and love this time of year. And yes, even I dig Christmas lights. So if you celebrate another holiday or are not a believer in any of the above, this doesn't mean you cannot have some fun with the Christmas Lights Run!

Thursday

Today or tomorrow will likely be an easy/short day. Assuming tomorrow is that day, for today we're going to try again the runNYtrails Photo Run! Pick a route -- any route of any distance -- and grab one picture that shows us what the loop is all about. Post your photo or links to it here!

Friday

Good day for a mile. Or swap it with Thursday. Your call. If you want to run longer (or do something else), do it with a friend. Enjoy this time of year when people feel the love of being connected with others. If no company, maybe treat yourself to a run with music (or without if you normally listen to tunes).

Saturday

Group Run, and be sure to grab that Santa hat. If you cannot hook up with a group, pick a slightly longer loop today, grab some good tunes, and enjoy the day. Stop the music halfway through and listen to the sounds around you. Then on the return trip, or at least somewhere after halfway, insert 4 to 6 pickups of, say, 2 minutes each. This isn't speedwork, so don't kill these... just pick up pace to something fast but in control. Your body will like it. Trust me.

Sunday - Christmas Day

This is a GREAT day to laced up those new kicks and take them for a spin. Or grab your in-law and go for a walk or light jog. Don't pile on the miles. You have all year to do that. Instead just be joyful and wave to all passing cars. People are really friendly on Christmas Day. And wear that Santa hat, for you'd be amazed at how it gets people to smile.

COMING WEEKS TEASER: Comfort Zone Run (I promise).

Not too late to join, folks! Raise your hand and I'll add you to the list. Any and all are welcome. Also, current Streakers, feel free to add fun ideas.
