Fort hose who might be interested, I am planning on going to the New Jersey Devils vs. New York Islanders NHL game Friday Nov 16th in Newark, NJ. According to Yahoo maps, Newark is about 85 miles from Philly. Im not sure how many of you traveling to Philly for the Marathon/HM would be arrving in time but I thought Id throw it out there. Would any of you Philly area folks be interested in going to the game?

I know Winter mentioned wanting to go and possibly Theia.

I can't see any prices.
so we will have to wait a bit.

Not sure on that one. The game starts at 7 and its 85 miles away. Anybody in the area have any suggestions on what time would be good to leave the Philly area?

My guess is you'd need to leave no later than 4:30-5 or so, since there will be traffic getting out of Philly and you're looking at an hour and a half drive.

That's just my thought...as much as I'd like to spend the evening with you Frankie, I have no interest.

Heater, that's a lot of driving for you...

The website has prices for the tix now. As much as I would like a lower level im thinking its a bit rich for my blood. The least expensive lower level ticket is 95 bucks. The most expensive upper level ticket is 75. I think I can swing that better than 95.

Oh and Moe im crushed

Plan on leaving no later than 5 like Moe said, and that may be oushing it. Traffic on the NJ Turnpike is unpredictable, especially the farther North you go!!!

I am going to pass just because I already offered to be a bit of a tour guide/host for the night!!! Plus, I doubt I could hang with you diehards!!!

Ditto. I've been in that traffic heading north and heading south. It ain't pretty. You may want to consider parking at a NJ Transit station along the way and hopping a train up to Newark to avoid the most congested areas.

5 p.m. is the absolute latest I'd want to leave. Traffic will be a mess.

Heat, I wonder if you could drive directly to the game instead of to Philly and then back north... Maureen could hang in the city?? Or if you're already in Philly, we could just carpool up together. No sense in all of us paying the exorbitant parking fees.

Yeah, I can do whatever...but by the city, assume you mean NY and not Newark.

Heater, just let me know...I'm flexible. I have friends in the city and I have no problem just hanging out on my own as long as someone comes to get me after.

I definately didnt have any plans on going into NYC on Friday. I will be in the city though for a short time Thursday if all goes well. Im planning on taking a run across the GWB Thursday morning so that will be my brief foray into NYC that trip.

6+ hours from beantown to philly in the a.m. and then 2 hours each way to newark makes Heater a tired, cranky, hurtin' boy...
