Elija Wood will play Frodo in a bracketing feature - Writing the last bit of Bilbo's book (There and Back Agan) that became the "Red Book of Westmarch"

Andy Serkis is back as Gollum

Ian Holm will reprise his role as the older Bilbo, again in the bracketing.

Gandalf is back (how could he not be), but Christopher Lee will also be back as Saruman if his health allows him to travel. This is part of the appendices that they will be filming to explain Gadalf's absence.

Agent Smith (Mr. Aragorn you disappoint me) will also return. So all is in place. The Die is cast. Filming starts in 2 weeks in 3D. First film out Christmas 2012, second a year later.

Oh, I think he'll make a better Bilbo than Arthur Dent. That was such a disappointment. It's going to be wierd having Hugo play himself as a youngster....I guess they'll use that whole Elf's are immortal thing and do a lot of digital touch up (or maybe create a digital character a la Tron and just have him voice it)

They are in negotiations with David "The Doctor" Tennant to play Thranduil the Elven King (and dad to Legolas).
