Welcome Don!

Best of luck to ya this weekend Chris!
Good luck tomorrow, Nettie!
My TT was alright... I guess I did as much as I could in my current health state. Definitely not doing the 15k tomorrow, just the 5k.
Welcome Don, if you train consistently, you can easily cut those 9 minutes.
Thanks for the welcome, folks!

My PR was at the run to remember last year...and in actuality, I ran it in 2:07ish....I stopped a few times to wait for friends and once to mug for some pictures with my son.

The program I'm following now is WAY different than HH's beginner program which I have followed in the past. I really like the intervals involved, a whole new ball game!

Welcome Don.

15.4 miles today, giving me 44 miles for the week.
Awesome, MrPH! I was planning on getting up to 15-16 in this training cycle but just couldn't, with getting sick and finally hurting my ITB. Oh well. You're going to do great at the end of the month.
Thanks for the welcome, runners!

Well, it was bound to happen. I've heard about them, but in my 2+ years of running I hadn't experienced one before. But today, I had it. Nah, it's nothing major, but I finally had my first 'bad run'.

I was supposed to do 8-9 miles, with 4min TUT (Total Uphill Time). The first 2 miles were okay, just warming up, but I got to a steep hill and knocked 1:30 out of the 4min needed on that one alone...it just gassed me. After that I couldn't get into a groove, never hit my stride and just struggled the whole way. I got the other 2:30 of hills around 5 miles in on a long, more gradual hill, and it wasn't as bad as the first one, but it didn't help with trying to develop/maintain a good rhythm or pace.

I finally realized around 6.5 miles that things just weren't going to click. So I stopped trying to turn it into something 'good' and plodded along for the last 1.5 miles.

I honestly don't think it was the hills, I think it was the fact that I missed runs on Thursday and Saturday and wasn't thoroughly hydrated today.

Fear not, I'm not bumming about it. Bad runs are bound to happen. It's behind me. I just feel chatty so I figured I'd let you know how my run went today, rather than just 'I did 8 miles'!

Thanks, Jill. One more tough week then I will cut back.

Regarding the ITB, having you tried using a foam roller on it? I've found that it does a pretty good job loosening the band up.
Yep, Don, bad days just remind us of how good our good days are. 8 miles on a bad day is pretty decent IMO.

MrPH, I have The Stick but I am thinking about getting a foam roller, too. Today I'm heading to physical therapy and hopefully learn some new stretches, etc. A friend of mine is a massage therapist and she said she'll work on me.
