Welcome Nettie

This week..... another 40-42 miles of mostly slow base building with a bunch of cycling mixed in .... maybe one day of either a tempo run or progressive run.

This week will be more of the same ... somewhere in the low 40s.

Hi SLOjim!

Today's interval workout was pretty tough, but they're supposed to be right? 6x1000m at 10K pace.

8mi trail run today. Difficult course so I'm exhausted. There was a storm somewhere above the tree line, and branches were falling all around me. Pretty exciting.

Sounds like quite the adventure!

Yesterday, did a 35 minute tempo run at goal half pace. Ended up doing it really late as I was tired from the night before and couldn't get up in the morning. No more drinking like that until after Athens.

Tempo run this morning.

2.2 miles warmup
5 miles @ 7:35
2 miles cooldown

Real happy with this run considering that we had a wind advisory.

Wrapped up another 40+ week with an 8 mile progressive run this morning (albeit a rather slow progressive run).

Looks like our plans to the Avenue of Giants are falling apart..... just too much stuff going on in May.... so I'll be running the local Palos Verdes HM on May 17 instead. Lots of hills so I'm not sure if I'll be breaking 2 hrs at this point in my training. Looks like we'll be getting a pretty good KickRunners turn out for this race.

I am feeling really discouraged. We have just been getting slammed with illnesses this season. My scrathcy throat last weekend has settled into my chest, and I can't stop coughing. I think it might turn into bronchitis.

So I didn't do my long run this weekend. I am so darned sick of not feeling my best. The season is turning out to be pretty disappointing.

Jebba, don't let a cold discourage you. Everybody gets sick once in a while. Did the season start??? It was still snowing here on Saturday. Anyway, a week or two off won't kill you.

I did my first race of the season yesterday... a 5K with flurries at the start. Big surprise, although I haven't done any speedwork lately, I had a 6 seconds PR!! (for 23:15)

Awesome job on the PR Chris!

And, speaking of illness interfering with training, I have the flu! Looks like I get a 2 week super taper before my half. I feel capable of PRing, but doubt I'll be able to get down to my goal.

I did have a really tough 12 miler yesterday though: 6 easy miles followed by 6 miles at goal pace + 20-30 secs. Glad I got to get in one quality workout before this crap happened.

Thanks, T3. Last month it was a stomach virus, and in late december/early january, it was bronchitis again. I guess it's to be expected with little ones in the house.
