No running for me this week. I'll be doing A LOT of biking instead.

On Saturday I ran with the dog, tripped over him at the end of the run and apparently hurt my foot. Ran 12.5 miles yesterday with great pain in my foot the entire time. Upon examination of my foot last night it is bruised over the spot that hurts which leads me to believe that it may be broken. So, I'm taking the next 2 weeks off from running and will cross train instead.

I'm 7 weeks out from my HM. I'm not too concerned about it as I was just out for 2 weeks with bronchitis and having just finished my 2nd week back of running, I ran 12 miles in 1:52 as an easy long run. So, I'll get back to running 5 weeks before the big race, guess that means 4 weeks of training. I ought to be okay. Just sucks is all!

I can't believe my half is already coming up. My training has been spotty this month. The whole family got sick, so I was off running about a week and a half. Bleah. I'm excited, but also quite nervous; I'm not sure what pace to try for. I think I'll start on pace for my doable goal, and then speed up if I feel good.

Ooops Jill, sorry to hear about that... hopefully it's just a bruise, if it were broken, you wouldn't be able to step on that foot. Take it easy for a bit.

Jebba, taper well, eat your carbs, and enjoy the race!! Is that your first?

Easy 3mi today, happy that nothing hurts, I mean the knee that kept me away from running for 4 days.

Bad news with your foot Jill.... hope it heals soon.

Best wishes Jebba on your half this weekend..... sounds like you have a good plan to start at a conservative pace and then increase the pace if all is going well.

Looks like another low 40's week with lots of cycling mixed in..... it's time to get serious about some weight loss for me.

Tempo run this evening.

2.2 miles warmup
4.1 miles @ 7:40
2.2 miles cooldown

This was my first tempo run in preparation for the half in April. I was pretty happy with the pace, as it was right around what I was shooting for. I am looking to up the tempo miles up to around 6 over the next couple of weeks.

I think I have settled into a weekly routine that will carry me to race day.

3 weekday runs - 6 easy
mid week tempo
weekend long run 14-15 miles

Other than increasing the tempo mileage I will keep the schedule as is. I had thought about going higher on the weekend run but I have been doing at least 12 every weekend since early December, and I can go out and run 15 easy miles without feeling beat up at all, so I am going to leave it at that.

That's a great idea considering the spotty training. Those first few miles think "slow". Between the crowd pulling you along and adrenaline you'll find that you are going faster than you think you are. The longer the race, the tougher it is to overcome going out too fast.

Good luck

It's over! It's didn't go very well, but for some reason I'm not as disappointed as I thought I'd be. Maybe I'm just tired. Race report here.

Jebba,

I read your RR ...... tough race with illness getting in your way during training. Look at it as a good training run and prepare to have a great race in April!

Nice weekend here in So Cal for running lots of clouds and overcast, temps in the low 60's. 6 easy miles today in preparation of long run tomorrow..... last week's 16 was cut short, so I hoping to get 15 or 16 in tomorrow.

Good weekend runs everyone,

Welcome, Nettie.
My running week wasn't that good, due to minor nagging injuries. Ended up with 14.8mi, but 11 of those came at the end of the week. I never feel the joy of running as much as after being unable to run...
