Hi Everyone--

I actually didn't mean to start the thread and feel kinda badly starting it on this note since I haven't been posting much recently...

However...this isn't a big surprise, but as of last night, Philly was officially out for me. There are a few reasons for it, a some I don't feel comfortable posting on a public forum.

(No, I'm not pregnant).

The most important one is that my dad is scheduled to have some surgery and with that, I'm needing to take time from work I wasn't planning on--that was the final decision maker.

Anyway, I'm bummed about it, but it's the right decision for now. I have been lurking and will continue to; sometimes during the day I'm just not able to catch up! I hope you don't mind if I continue to peek in and when things get a little less busy, I hope to be more participatory. I am still running, though and think of you all often! I'll try to keep up on the weekends, too.

Have a great day, everyone and happy running!

Morning Luvs!!!!

T-totally rained out today boys and girls...like an inch per hour rained out.

Hi Craney!! Good on you for doing what needs to be done. Good vibes to daddy.

Winter love ta love ya and a hug and stuff.

Diane how's training?

QOY: uh.... i dunno. 'round the time i started the doc program...maybe before. just a couple of miles a few times a week to keep in shape on the tm. decided that running outside and looking for a 5k was for me about 2 years in. blew out my hip and was out of commission (like couldn't get my own pots and pans out) for a year or so. Was told I wouldn't run again. Got up to 8 mile LR and PF started killing me. My running has been lame since about April. I'm starting to feel like I need to take the Runner Girl sticker off my whip.

Tim i saw that and thought of the 30's also.

Speaking of a 30's figured type of world....
Mat and his girl Lita were telling me about their staff meetings. Their boss always starts them out with, "tell us something no one knows."
I was thinking it sort of reminded me of our QOD gone all wrong. Lita is an amazing atlete and usually busts out something like, "i was a world series softball winner." Mat makes stuff up. I said, "i'd be like, I f*cked ya mom."
Mat is glad I don't teach at his school.

It made me think we are way better at QOD. What are your pet peeves and Who would you be if you were a muppet is way better than What does no one know about you....Clearly if no one knows... there might be a reason. And CLEARLY.... given my proposed response...I should not be allowed around people....

So in the spirit of our wonderful, frivolous QODs... if you were going to be on a TV show. What would it be? Would you be a character or yourself added in?

morning!

crane -- believe me, I understand about not feeling like you can catch up sometimes... good vibes to you and to your dad...

I have a whole list of stuff to comment on from yesterday's thread, but I am not sure when I'll get the chance to do that. By the time I was done reading last night, I was tired and went to bed. Kids are coming in to homeroom now.

Oh! I see Mandy has started a QOD (I'll come back for that one later), but I believe Moe also said she has one she wanted us to remind her about???

Craney - no apologies neccessary. Take care of your Pop, and yourself. You will be missed in Philly, but we all have choices to make, and I am sure you are making the correct one.

Dang, nice freakin work Lady Winter.

Kini - hope the ear infection is better, and the meds do not have you too loopy.

Someone needs to add music to these lyrics.

Hil solar

Semi-lazy day for me - 1 mile to warmup and tons of stretching. Back has been a little stiff\sore lately, so I am trying to be proactive and take care of it now and hope it does not flare up again. Gonna stick with every other day through my 5 K on Sunday.

Good morning.

My ITB is irritated so i am off to the DO this afternoon for a little fibular head adjustment... fun stuff. I want to do well this weekend, so better to handle it now.

Craney - Sorry that you won't be able to make the Philly meet-up, but family comes first. You can join KP and I in the virtual cheering section.

Good morning, everyone. Yesterday was an eventful day. The three of us spent the day in CT visiting many friends and relatives. Jillian was a big hit everywhere she went. And she was extremely well behaved, except for one little fit at my parents' house. All in all, it was a very fun day. Today she has an appointment at the pediatrician. The fun continues...

I didn't get a chance to check the whole thread yesterday. Did I miss anything good?

Crane - Good vibes sent to your dad.

I should be able to find some time today to run. I guess I ought to check the schedule and see what's on tap...

Oh yeah, I forgot that I've had this one ready for a while. I just needed a chance to get around to posting it...

I've concocted another 80s music contest. But this one is a little different. Instead of posting lyrics that you need to guess, I've created an MP3 with a bunch of short snippets of songs spliced together. I don't know how this will play out. This might be really difficult. Or it might be easy. I'm leaning towards the difficult. So you've been warned, and please don't be too upset if you can't get any of them. I hope it's not that hard, but I'm afraid that maybe it is.

Anyway, you need to be able to play an MP3 to do this. I would think that most people should have that capability on your computers. Maybe you can even play it from right within your browser. Anyway, the file is here. It includes short snippets of 10 songs. Some of the snippets are really short, and that's what might make it really difficult. But there is a theme to it, so hopefully it makes sense.

Well, your task is to identify the 10 songs. They are all from the 1980s. And they all hit the Top Ten, so they were all fairly big hits, which means hopefully you're familiar with them. Submit your guesses to: 80smusic at bobmann dot net. I'll let you know how you did, and I'll name the winner and post the answers later in the day. Maybe I'll wait until tonight, just in case anybody is at work and can't/won't play right away, because they can't play audio at work.

Like I say, I don't know how this will work out. This might be a stupid game. Please let me know what you think. If you think this game sucks, let me know, and I'll never waste my time on something like this again. But if you think this is fun, maybe I'll do another one again some day...

Hey kiddos!!!

Nothing much to report from NJ. No workout last night, spent time wheeling and dealing to get DH in a new car this week!!! We might actually end up with the Nissan because his aunt works for the dealership and we might be getting an outrageous deal!!! Should know details today!

Elliptical tonight.

Craney you will be missed but you are making the right decision. Hey, maybe COlleen can take your room, she was at the same hotel but had trouble with getting rooms every night!

Roo I would love to have you in one of my group meetings!!! I often have the urge to tell everyone in the room to shut the F up!!

Tonya hope you get some IRB relief!

QOD1: Definately want to be a character on House or The Office. Totally different atmospheres but both great in their own ways!

QOD - was sitting on the couch last night and looked over to Tonya and said "I'd love to just be a person in the bar on that show!" - How I Met Your Mother. Would love to just be in the bar to witness the shenanigans.

Morning, all--

Went out for 2.5 in the rain this morning; first day back after a week on the bench. I felt fantastic for the first .25 mile and then the whole run went to sh!t: stomach pains, came to a dead stop due to shooting pains at my excision site, backache, heel rubbing against my shoe. I am proud of myself for being out there, though. I take a walk around the block to loosen up before running and I was considering bagging the run b/c it's raining when I saw a guy running toward me, and I felt like being a runner today, so I sucked it up and got out there. I would definitely like to run better on Thursday before flying out to my job interview, but I'm glad I ran this morning.

QOD--My first inclination is to say that I want to be a contestant on either Survivor or Amazing Race. I already have my lies ready for Survivor, and I'd love a free trip abound the world. If I come up with anything more insightful, I'll repost later.

NQOD (Nutrition QOD): For the morning runners out there (and anyone else who wants to weigh in). . .Do you eat before running in the morning? If so, what? If not, how long before your morning run is your last meal/snack of the evening? I'm wondering if my stomach pains are weak abs or hunger pangs due to the fact that I fast about 10 hours from last meal to morning run. Thanks!

(((((Crane))))))) Do what's right for you.

Good days, everyone.

Sending vibes out to Maggie I hope all is going well for her! (recovery can be tough)

Craney- Hope all is well with your dad. Maybe we can find something local, I am looking for something later November, early December.

Baggs- Did you hear from your buddies that ran DSM?

QOY I started running in April 2005, I have taken a few breaks from injury related to family related. Still very much addicted.

QOD I would be on ER, Yes, I still watch it and I would work as a Social Worker, (myself)

I don't seem to be any worse as far as my knee goes, recovery is seeming to be normal, soreness etc. I used my foam roller last night, that helped, I didn't do my calves and I can tell this AM. We will know for sure after my 1st run which will be Thursday. I have a 20-25 minutes EM workout today.

ok off to work!

Good morning!
Rain at Mandy's last night, rain at prae's this morning, I guess it's headed this way. Hope the roof doesn't cave in above DD2's room. We never did get a chance to re-tar that section of the roof before DH left for Germany.

Bob, I was just checking out your website and have a question: Do you run with your camera in those races?

Roo's QOD: I think I'd like to be a superhero in Heroes.

prae's QOD: No, I do not eat before my morning runs. The only time I'll eat something is if I'm going on a long run and I get up early enough so that it's an hour before my actual running.

... waiting for Moe's QOD ...

Craney, take care of your life. Philly will always be there and we'll always be running. Good vibes to you.

Mary, wanted to comment yesterday but got sidetracked. That is an amazing story about your pop. I'm glad that he's okay. Scary chit!
