Good morning.

Hope today goes easy, I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Weather is looking great for the weekend and the PDR runners. 2008, that's when I will be ready to do PDR but it wasn't going to happen this year.

What's crackalackin, folks?

Up early working to send Advisor my recent work and plans for continuation. Making him set up a date and time so I'll be calling him. Molly says I'm going to have to push for his time. She had a similar experience with her advisor who is also a big dog so her help both as a scholar and a sane person are invaluable.

BUT Molly says my work is great and more importantly I'm very clear about what I've done!

Anyone want to join me in a happy snoopy dance?

Working at a Football game for the high school my kiddos will go to tonight. Should be fun. Hope some of my babies go.

I posted it last night, but I'm still happy about it so YAY SHAGGY!!!! Thought about that pup all day yesterday.

DOC arf!

Moon Pa Doo its golf shirt day. boo!

Moe I been meaning to tell you that's a beautiful photo!

I keep reading sunyurbuns as sugar buns. maybe that's just me....

Prae you're doing fine. its just part of it. which doesn't make the time you feel like hell any better, but knowing its part of it and its not just you makes it bearable. Like my daddy says, "if it were easy kid, everybody would be running around with one."

Ok. I gotta get crackin. Today is an off day. I am happy about it. 3 days in a row and my legs were a little jelly like yesterday. Looking forward to an easy peasy (Hi crackerhead) 3 tomorrow on fresh legs.

Good morning, all. I'm taking the day off from work, and I'm gonna do my weekly long run this morning. I hope to do about 18 miles today. We'll see how that turns out...

Anyway, we haven't had a good 80s music lyrics quiz in a while. I know this is typically T-Rev's department, but I hope he doesn't mind if I spit one out here. I did do this once before (quite a while ago) and I'm pretty sure T-Rev himself won. (Maybe no surprise there). So, here's another one...

There are 20 songs below. I tried to pull from a diverse variety of genres: rock, pop, dance, r&b, rap, glam rock, new wave, country, wussy ballads, etc. If you guys are all in your 30s and were thus alive throughout the 80s, you should know every song, even if you can't immediately recognize these lyrics. All 20 songs were big hits. They all hit the Top Ten on the Billboard charts, and more than half of them hit #1.

I think some are harder than others. There's one song below (a #1 hit, actually) where I'd almost be shocked if anyone got it. And I think a couple others might be tough as well. But like I say, they were all big hits. As a further hint, I chose exactly two songs from each year, 1980 thru 1989. Bonus points to anybody that can identify the year of each song...

I gave myself a new email address just for this quiz. Anyone who wants to play, send an email to 80sMusic at bobmann dot net. Don't post your answers here in this thread so that others can play. I'll check my email periodically throughout the day, and I'll let you know how many you got right. And by the end of the day I'll post the answers and declare a winner.

Here we go...

1) If You can't feed your baby (yeah yeah)
Then don't have a baby (yeah yeah)

2) Out on the road today
I saw a deadhead sticker on a Cadillac

3) All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band

4) They say I better get a chaperone
Because I can't stop messin' with the danger zone

5) Mirror queen, mannequin, rhythm of love
Sweet dream, saccharin, loosen up

6) These people 'round here
With their beat down eyes sunk in smoke dried faces
They're resigned to what their fate is

7) We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching
but you're too shy to say it

In the same boat with a lot of your friends
Waitin' for the day your ship'll come in

9) Lookin for love in all the wrong places
No fine girls just ugly faces

10) You make me hot, you make me sigh
You make me laugh, you make me cry

11) Tonight the music seemed so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd

12) Act your age, mama, not your shoe size
Maybe we could do the twirl

13) From where I stand you are home free, the planets align so rare
There's promise in the air, and I'm guiding you

14) So hold on here we go
Hold on to nothin' we know
I feel so lonely way up here

15) She gives me hot and cold fever
Then she leaves me in a cool cool sweat

16) You know I call you, I call you on the telephone
I'm only hoping that you're home

17) I can't get, Any rest,
People say, I'm obsessed

1 And others, they know just what I'm going through
And it's so hard to be a lover when you say you're only in it for fun

19) Neon lights and the pretty pretty girls
All dressed so scantily

20) In the paper today tales of war and of waste
But you turn right over to the T.V. page

Diane (Dianosaur), Kristi (KJsoontobeOC), and me (AuntieMoe)

We had a good time sending Kristi off last night! Beers and burgers...always good! (OK so I had a reuben, but you get the idea. )

I have a phone interview today. At 3.

thanks for the well wishes yesterday. My mom will get the results back on Monday, but they didn't even check her blood counts because they were so good last time. That's as good as it gets now.

Bob...I'll specifically refrain from discussing my experiences as a gov't employee. Good luck!

Mandy, good luck to you too.

Means they're super cool songs, Bob!

Anyway. Slept in again today. Got another long day ahead of me and I'm tired enough lately as it is (despite a nap last night and getting to bed around 10:30.) It's gonna be raining most of the day. Perhaps it will be cool enough after that I can run this evening. We'll see!

This weekend is my Dad's 60th birthday so I will be at the 'rents tomorrow. He likes history and there is a special Ben Franklin exhibit at the Atl. history museum so we are going there right after lunch at Longhorn's.

Mandy that's good news! It's the light at the end of the tunnel! Have fun at your football game!

Good luck racers!!!!!!!!! Enjoy the beautiful weekend. Looking forward to all the RRs.

Ok, gotta get ready for work. Woot. Wish I could just go back to bed....

Mornin' all!!

Posting from Brighton, England!

Got in safe and sound. Took forever to get through passport check but it was cool. Was tired as hell from the jet lag and stuff.

Just got back from a run. One of the more interesting runs I've ever had. Ran on some farm roads, through fields, through woods, talked to a guy walking with his dog in the middle of a field in the midle of nowhere. Ran over gates, cow shit, all kinda stuff. Wasn't even on a trail, just in fields some of the time.

I ran to a thing called the Indian Memorial, which kinda shows where I'm at.

Took a bunch of pictures during the run as well. Weather here was perfect for a run, about 60*F. I think I ran about 5 miles. Ran for 48:22.

Wildlife report: Cows, sheep, flushed out tons of pheasants.

Anyway, got to go, but just wanted to check in. Not sure when I'll be able to again.

Hope everyone is having good days, runs, etc.

Good morning everyone! Great pics, thanks for posting them Moe. It's always nice to see what all the other kicksters look like. Voo, we'll be waiting for your running jaunt photos.

So, I think I bought the wrong size running sneakers. No, I know I did. Don't kill me, I was such a running newB at the time, I got them at Ladies Foot Locker. I was so excited to get new running sneakers, I just couldn't wait. I've been getting blisters on my tow, and am finally developing a callus there. I'm going to stop by the local running store to buy some new sneaks today between DD's preschool dropoff/pickup times, doctor visit and picking DH up at airport. This is the end of week 3 of his MIA status. Airplane lands at 4:30 pm today and another leaves at nooon tomorrow. Off to Prague for the next week. At least we get a few hours with him between trips. Although I'm kinda pissed that I'm not going to Prague. I love that city! I just found out that his company got a contract with the peeps in New Zealand, so guess where I'll be going in the upcoming future ...

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Enjoy, the weather will be nice and cool ... great running weather.

Good morning!

Just a quick hello, and to say that yet again, we have proof that the 30's wimmins are hot! The gents are pretty fine too. Thanks for posting the photos, Moe!

Bob, I knew for sure about 5 of the songs on your list, and a couple others where the answer was just off the edge of my memory. But then, I always did suck at this kind of game.

Tim- you should have excellent racing weather here in OH! I'm looking forward to my long run in the a.m., that's for sure. I am about 60 miles east of where you will be and it's supposed to get into the 40's overnight and high tomorrow of only 63*. Hope you packed a jacket, it'll be downright cold for a Southern boy.

Morning Peeps!

Just a quick post before teaching at 9. Run yesterday was ok, but I need new shoes. I have decided that I am NOT running again on those suckers!! I bought them knowing they were men's shoes. (mostly because it's hard to find my size in women's). so shoe shopping on Saturday!

Wow, Kris. That weather sounds delicious. It's still 72* with 92% humidity here this morning. Supposed to be in the low-mid 80s. Even with the rain.

Morning Gang! Happy Friday!

Stopped at the Brewhouse for supper on the way home and they had my all time favorite beer on tap!!!!!! The Cherry Ale (this year's batch = Cherry 2200 for the 2,200 batch of beer brewed at the Brewhouse). They make it with over 800 pounds of cherries - so each pint basically has a pound of cherries in it!! It's good enough to serve over ice cream although just to drink it plain is a treat.

This week-end is the beer train on Saturday, that should also be much fun. The guy I know from Summit is going to be there pouring Oktoberfest, ESB, EPA and the Pilsner. Really looking forward to that.

I hope people are doing well!

Maureen - thanks for posting the pics! Looks like a fabulous time!!!
