Okay, points for the embedding. AND the fancy spoiler management.

The investment in sunglasses may be worth it.

Nope. Pretty much just have to roll with the punches, so to speak. Once you accept that part of triathlon is the smash-n-bash at the swim start, you actually learn to kinda sorta enjoy it. A little. Okay, maybe not. But I *have* found myself laughing during one particularly crazy swim start - it was just so ridiculous I couldn't help myself.

Had to laugh this weekend--I had a guy clock me but good. Whatever. We're racing. He wasn't being nasty, we were both trying to cut the corner and ran into each other. THis guy acutally STOPPED and APOLOGIZED!

That happened to me last year! I got punched right in the side of the head. The guy was SO apologetic. I was treading water while comforting him.

I try to be careful to keep my hands out in front of me, kinda like doing the catch-up drill, when it gets crowded. I'll probably get a broken finger for it someday but that is better than a broken nose. I haven't had anyone swim over the top of me yet.
