As you can see from my photo, I have long hair. Way, way too long hair. I finally schedule an appointment to get it cut. Like 13+ inches is going. Yah, donating it again.

I know I need it to be long enough for a pony tail. That's what I've always needed for run and bike. What do I need for swim? What length/style is best for stuffing in a swim cap?

When I had long hair.....I would ponytail it, then braid the pony tail and stuff it in the cap. It was easier to manage for me.

But, I like my short hair better now....now, I just have to stuff the ends up under the edge of the cap.

Right now, I do two braids and stuff 'em in the swim cap. I'm not going too short. Probably because as a kid my mom always made me cut it short and I was always getting called a boy...

I put mine in a low ponytail--and stuff the end in the swim cap--my issue is making it low enough for my bike helmet to fit!--when I am at the pool--I wear it in a pony tail type thing on top of my head, and have no problem fitting the cap over it......so my suggestion is low ponytail?--I know not very creative....gl with your new hair cut!

That is my problem - I would looke like a boy with a short hair, especially with a cap, running. So, though I loved my hair short for swimming after the last fall, I am letting it grow back longer to the shoulder length. Long enough for a ponytail (to show a tail from a cap) and short enough to stick it in a swim cap without a major struggle.

I like being able to catch all my hair in a ponytail under my swim cap, even if it's a low one, so there isn't hair coming out of my cap. And, I like straddling the two google straps between the bump that the ponytail makes under my cap.

That's what I'm doing. I need it long enough for a pony, and to put up in a clippy for work.

I hate my hair.

I'm with Julie.... short hair girl here too. It's very liberating! 4 minutes tops from soaking wet to dry and styled. For years, I would grow it, cut it, grow it, cut it.... but I've kept it short now for about 3 years and not sure I want to go through the agony of growing out again. When it was long it was always in a ponytail anyway, so I figured I may as well cut it off. I highly recommend it... I also was/am paranoid about looking like a boy (I'm tall and nothing about me is petite), but there are lots of cute feminine short styles out there. Give it a try!!!

Yah, but my hair is thick and perfect for donating... I like growing it out and donating it. I just wasn't sure what style would work for s/b/r. It HAS to be pulled back! Last time I got it cut I went for a run with it loose. Drove me nuts!

First, let me say I think it is totally cool that you are donating.... very nice! My hair is on the thick side too and after years of wearing ponytails, I still am not crazy about that "loose" feeling... that's why I almost always wear some kind of a hat. Well, I also usually need to cover up my bed hair! (I get some wicked bed hair with short hair!)

Well I tried short hair last year and it was cute and hip but a pain in the a$$. It needed to be cut every 6-8 weeks and with my hair, had to be styled even minimally to look good.

I have grown it out to just below chin length, which is just about long enough for a pony tail but not so long that it is major work. There are also lots of styles that work with this length. I am going to keep it like this for awhile. Don't forget to post a pic.

Ronbo- You crack me up!!

My hair is pretty short, but not boy-short (you can see it in my avatar). I had shoulder length to chin length hair pretty much since jr. high. I permed my hair, so it was also curly. I liked the low maintenance (blow dry with diffuser and go). Well, I kept going shorter and shorter. When my girls were 1, I cut it really short. I didn't like it, so I grew it back out and permed it again. Then, about 3 years ago, I gradually got shorter and shorter and quit perming. Now, it is short as far as the length in the back, but it is still girly. I have the little flip. I get LOTS of compliments on it all the time. I just stuff the ends in my swim cap, and I always wear a mesh hat when I run (for the hair and the sweat). DH likes that I wear a hat because that's how he can find me in a tri. My hair stylist is good, so I let her do whatever she wants to my hair. She knows I want low maintenance. My hair is thick, but super fine, so it doesn't do well air drying. I have to blow dry it for it to look good, but my hair dries in just a couple minutes.

I would recommend going as short as you can and still pull it back. That can still be pretty short (shorter than shoulder length). Guys always like long hair, but I live in Texas, and long hair is hot!! My DH likes my hair the way it is now, but he doesn't want it ANY shorter!

Ronbo--too funny! You wouldn't like my guys hair... My rule is off the ears and off the neck. But, since hubby cuts their hair, it frequently gets long between haircuts. My youngest has a mohawk that is growing out. In the front, it's still pretty short--still off the ears. In the back, it's long enough for a pony tail!

I always wear pig tails to run. And it has paid off. Twice in races I've passed someone near the finish. I placed, they didn't. Both times they said when I passed they didn't worry about it because with pig tails, I looked too young to be in the 40-44AG.

I'm another short hair girl, actually a lightly layered bob that is just above chin length. I wear hats running so those keep it out of my way. When I can be bothered, I blow dry it; otherwise I just let it air dry. I have enough of a wave that it does this flippy thing if I air dry.

Funny, just a couple hours ago a coworker asked if I was letting my hair grow long, No way!! I just need a haircut really bad. That's my only complaint about having short hair, mine grows fast so I have to get it cut alot.

I had long hair (past my waist) in high school and a couple years of college, then got it cut off just above chin length. I loved it long, but I like it even better short. Quick to dry and looks cute. I think it's been short for like 8 years now!

It's easy to fit in a swim cap and I either wear a hat or a little headband thingy when I run. I'm with you on that, can NOT have loose hair in my face while running.

My DH shaves his head and loves it cause it's easy, anytime I complain about my hair he says "just shave it off" if it was socially acceptable for girls to have shaved heads, I would probably do it, it would be so easy!!
