When I started my second running hobby in 1999, I went from then until 2010 with only one fall. This year I've had 4 falls, including two in a 14 mile training run this past Saturday. Scraped knees and an arm that is smarting but to the best I can tell, not broken - no bruises, swelling and it's operable.

And it's not even on rough sidewalk I'm falling. So, could shoes be the problem? I just switched from Mizuno's to Asics this year. Is my water belt making me unbalanced? I haven't fallen in any races where I'm running in the street and don't need a water belt. Or am I just clutsy and maybe it's time to spend more time on a treadmill and do weights rather than running so much?

I have thought about getting some knee pads and running in basketball shorts for a little added protection. Failing that, maybe one of those NASA space suits?!
